June is here again! I can't believe how quickly this year is going by. Life was so different this time last year, it's hard to realize how much has changed. However, June - to me - is officially the start of summer. Given the weather is nice, I can't wait to start doing summery things like going on picnics, sitting up the downs with a giant ice cream, going to the beach etc.
There's loads going on this month though so even if the weather isn't nice, you won't run out of things to do! Here's a little round up of the best things going on this month...
The Book
The 7th of June sees the release of the eagerly awaited I Heart London by Lindsey Kelk. Unfortunately, this will be the last book in the I Heart series but I have a sneaky feeling this book will be the best one yet. Sadly we'll be saying goodbye to inspiring Angela, but I bet you're all as excited as I am to read the final book and find out what happens when Angela finally returns to her hometown of London. // Out on 7th June The Film
There are many great films out this month but one that had to get a special mention is Fast Girls, due for release on the 15th of June. Fast Girls is without a doubt one of the most inspiring films of the year, telling the journey of a British female sprint relay team attempting to win gold in the Women's 4x100m Relay. Starring Lenora Crichlow and Noel Clarke, this film is released just in time for the Olympics. It'll definitely be a refreshing and inspiring change to see a top film all about successful women athletes. // Released on 15th June
The Festival
Summer is definitely time for festivals. There's nothing better then getting some mates together and camping at a top music festival, spending the weekend dancing, drinking and just having a laugh. In June there's the Isle of Wight Festival, Beach Break Live, Glastonbury Festival and more but I've got to say *the* festival to be this summer is of course Download. With headliners like Kiss, The Offspring and Lostprophets (hello sexy frontman Ian Watkins!), Download would definitely be the festival I'd be going to if I could afford it and wasn't shamefully a festival virgin :( // 8th - 10th June, Donington Park
The Event
Do I really have to state what the top event of June is going to be? It's obviously the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, starting this weekend (2nd-5th June). No matter where you are, you're bound to find something going on related to this exciting celebration. Oh we can't really complain about the extra two days off work, can we? Grab some bunting, cook some tea cakes and join in with the street celebrations this weekend - be proud to be British! // 2nd - 5th June, various locations
Anything else?
In all honesty, if I could suggest anything else new to try in June - I'd definitely recommend getting yourself clued up on self defense and sort yourself out with a zombie plan. Yep, you read that right. It's been rumoured that the zombie apocalypse is finally upon us, with many gory happenings around the world suggesting so. Remember last weekend when a man had to be shot 7 times before he stopped EATING ANOTHER MANS FACE? If that doesn't convince you then read this article, pointing out more examples suggesting that the zombie apocalypse may be closer than we think. Stock up on supplies and find yourself a safe location - I'll see you when it's all over! // Soon!
