And that is exactly what I always try to be whenever I either go shopping for clothes or whenever I have to dress for any occasion...

This Saturday I went out to lunch with one of my besties' "Manu Sharma" to this really classy Italian Restaurant called Little Italy and it did call for some fabulous dressing... 

I paired a champagne colored satin pencil skirt with a black sleeveless top that had rosettes around the neckline :) I wore black suede peep toe slingbacks with the outfit :) With it I took a velvet maroon pouch with another pretty rosette on it :)

My Look...

I tried keeping the makeup simple, nude and subtle and this is what I did...

Please ignore the "idiotic" expression :P

I applied:

1. Maxfactor Second Skin Liquid Foundation in "Golden"

2. MUFE star powder shade 940 wet on my eye lids 

3. Blended it with MAC Texture in the crease 

4. MAC ricepaper on the brow bone.

5. Colorbar Blush in Floral Fucsia on the cheeks

6. MAC Matte Lipstick in "Taupe"

7. Colorbar Star Shine Lip Gloss in "Chai"

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: MakeUp ForEver Star Powder Shade 940

Every once in a while you come across a product that makes you wonder how could you survive all this while without it. It compliments you, enhances you, in short it completes you. And yes ladies and gentlemen, today I am talking about one such product that has completely transformed the way I do make-up :) In the Spotlight today, ladies and gentlemen is MakeUp For Ever Star Powder Shade 940...

MUFE Star Powder Shade 940

MakeUp For Ever Star Powders are basically a fancy name given to loose pigments. But they are way smoother and finely milled than our favorite MAC pigments. The star powder generally comes in various shades but the shade that is in the spotlight is Shade 940.

MUFE Star Powder Shade 940 looks innocently "white" in its container and its very easy to pass it up for a brighter and a more "colorful" color, but that I assure you would be the biggest mistake of your life :P Cause once you spread it or pick it up with your brush you'll notice the "whiteness" has all disappeared and what you are left with is a beautiful Orange-ish Golden Glow :)

The "White" warms up to a gorgeous Orangey Gold

 I accidentally spilt some on the bathroom counter. You can see the "white" pigment on the top right corner. Once it is "spread" around, it magically turns a Orangish Golden :) Gorgeous isn't it? ;)

It's ideal as highlighter and to some extent even as a bronzer. You can use it as an illuminator by mixing it with your moisturiser, you can use it as an eye shadow and well you can mix it with a clear lip gloss to give your lips a lovely orange-golden sheen as well #MultiPurposeProduct. This product surely qualifies for #IfYouHadToUseOnly1ProductAllYourLife category :P

Since it so finely milled, it blends very easily with your eye shadows. It I swear is a delight to work with and the way it transforms color is simply magical :) You just need a little bit of the product and it goes a long way :) Though I still wish that I had bought a backup for it :P With only ONE MUFE store in India, I sure should have gotten myself a backup ;)

It costs around INR 900/- and for the quality, usability, beauty and brand, I think its an awesome price to pay! :D

Is the product perfect? Are there no cons? Well! there is a major con, which is actually very bugging and that is the container is totally useless. Its a small "dibbi" with a screw on lid that basically results in a lot of product wastage :( I wish MUFE made their star powder containers tall like MAC does for its loose pigments...

LOTD
In the following LOTD, I have used the powder as a highlighter on my brow-bone and on my cheekbones. Also I have used it on the lid with some duraline. I have used MAC Texture on the crease to give a bit of depth.

Do I Recommend?
Oh you can bet your life that I recommend it whole-heartedly. So much so that all my makeup products are on one side and this on one side.

LOTD: Summer Green Smokey Eyes

I love smokey eyes, of course it isn't really a surprise for you guys but you'll notice a pattern shifting in my smokey eye looks lately. You'll notice less heavy lids, less usage of darker shades and minimal use of even black eye shadow. Yes I am adapting my smokey eyes to the Summer season and making it more friendly for the "hot" season (yes pun intended)... I love Summers and nothing makes me feel cooler than certain shades of pink, green and blue :)

Today's smokey look is basically using a Green eye shadow (MAC Humid) over MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure and a little hint of black in the outer V of my lids... Hope you guys like the look and yup a video tute is in the pipeline ;)

LOTD: My Experiments with Nude Makeup

If you are with me on Facebook and Twitter then you would know about the status update I had posted today in the morning saying that 
"Pati" says he likes me without make-up nowadays... I guess my experiment with Nude Make-up with MUFE Star Powder is a success :)
Well you see I have been mulling over, trying some nude looks for the past couple of days and if you all know me at all then you'll know how much I love colorful lips and smokey eyes. Well then for a person like me delving into the world of nude make-up is quite drastic and so I wasn't getting any confidence in sporting any such looks! I was trying them out in Mumbai, as Mumbai with its humidity isn't kind to people with a face full of make-up and one generally tends to keep their make-up to quite a minimum and understated :) So Mumbai was the perfect location and when "pati" actually almost "gushed" about how much he was liking my "no makeup" look in Mumbai, I knew I had struck JackPot :) So here's the look and I am sharing it with you guys so that you could give me criticism and praise :) I am open to both! :D

Now let me clear the myth about Nude Makeup. Many people I know think that Nude Make-up means wearing no or minimum make-up but you see nude make-up means wearing enough make-up to make you look gorgeous and flawless and giving an illusion that no make-up has actually been applied! This reminds me of Calvin Klein's quote "The best is to look natural, but it takes make-up to look natural". So, I'll be honest and I will tell you that I am wearing a number of products here in order to achieve this "nude" look :)

REVIEW & LOTD: MAC Eye Shadow in Humid

MAC cosmetics does seem to have very interesting names for its eye shadows and lipsticks. Those who are working in the "nomenclature" department of MAC, I bow to thee. Such interesting and innovative names do deserve a round of applause. And one of them is MAC Humid. Would you seriously name an eye shadow Humid? I mean don't we relate humidity with a negative sense of the climate? Don't we say "Aggghhrrrrr I totally abhor the humidity in Mumbai" or "My hair gets soo frizzy in Kolkata's humidity" and yet they name their classic green shadow as "Humid" and well no one is complaining! :) Why? Cause with humidity I somehow relate plants and greenery. And so it seems very natural to me that a mossy green shadow be name d as Humid. Doesn't it make sense to you too? :P

MAC Humid is by far the BEST GREEN EYE SHADOW I have ever used. It is a flattering warm, olivey-mossy green that looks gorgeous on our type of skintones. I have had a tough time looking for a flattering green for my undertone and well MAC Humid seems to be the best bet :) It has this hint of a golden shimmer in it but it is very subtle and just results in a velvety golden sheen over the green shade :)

Definitely! This is the most flattering green on my eyes :)

Would I Recommend?
If you have a yellow undertone, are looking for a gorgeous green that would flatter your eyes, go with Indian outfits as well western then woman you have to get yourself HUMID in pan or refill! :D
