EOTD & Makeup Break-up: Pink and Taupe

It's been a while I did any EOTDs for the blog... And I promise this time it wasn't laziness ;) The thing is as Winters start setting in and the weather becomes dry, I start getting dry patches over my lids and below my chin :( And though I do use an ointment for it, it does take time for them to heal completely... So last night while washing my face after the gym, when I noticed that the dry patches had started to heal, I for my brushes and my MAC and Inglot palettes out and did an EOTD... It felt so good :)

So here it goes...

REVIEW & LOTD: Bad To Bronze from Maybelline's Eye Studio Color Tattoo Range

Yes yes yes... Another review on yet another Maybelline Eye Tattoo... But this time it is Bad To Bronze... And well I wore it to office... Yes it is a very wearable to office color on its own but can be made dressy with either pairing it with a dramatic colored eye shadow or using it as a base underneath a more shimmery shadow... On its own it subtle and well very flattering is what I finding out as the day progresses. Honest to God, I am really getting a lot of appreciative second glances and well even thinrd and fourth and I must say it is totally feeding my Ego ;) Yeah I know Ego is a bad thing and all that jazz but just sometimes feeding it some fodder can do wonders to your self confidence especially if you have a HUGE PRESENTATION lined up later in the day ;)

So anyways, this shade isn't really bronze-y but is rather like a pale champagne color on my lids and no my lids are not pigmented. They simply blend with my lid color giving it a subtle glow... I love it :) And if I said that Fierce and Tangy was a must have before then darlings this shade is must have with your eyes closed ;)

For a detailed review of Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoos, you could check this post out...

Just a few pointers about these color tattoos:
1. They are gloriously easy to apply when using your fingers... Brushes provided with them do not do justice!
2. They really stay on for the whole day!
3. They do not dry up as fast as MAC paint pots and hence are easier to work with especially if you are planning on a lot of blending :)

Choosing Products for Eye Makeup and Eye Care

Guest Post by Iswarya
Weekend Fun Giveaway July Week 2 Giveaway Entry #15

Eyes are the most sensitive organ in our body. They are very delicate. Eyes are mirrors of our personality. They are so expressive. Eyes show the early signs of aging. Wrinkles and puffiness may develop if we don’t take proper care of it. We must use quality eye care products. Many of you would have been blessed with stunning eyes; for others it is achievable. Little care and pampering can keep your eyes as beautiful as possible. We must ensure that we are not neglecting our eyes. The tissues surrounding the face is different from rest of the face. It is 5-6 times thinner. Soothe sore, tired eyes with these tips.

  • While choosing eye care and eye make-up products make sure that they are nontoxic and safe for use on eyes. We must make healthy choices. When it comes to eyes we must never choose a product based on its marketing.

  • Mineral make up is best for summers. We must keep our eyes clean and avoid products that result in infections.

  • Try to keep your eyes clean.

  • Switch to hypo allergic products.

  • Before buying a product read the complete ingredients list carefully. Stay away from products with ingredients like parabens, talc, and color additives like kohl, silicates and polymers.

  • Eyes have a fragile nature. Don't rub them too hard.

  • Don’t buy any thick or strong creams for the eye. Only a mustard sized amount is enough for the eyes. Apply in dabs. Less is always more when it comes to eyes.

  • Many of us will be using concealers, illuminators etc. for the eyes. Always remember to use an eye make-up remover before going to the bed at night. No traces of make-up should be left.

  • Try to give a light massage to the eyes. Take olive oil in ring finger of left and right hands and massage in semi-circular movements. Don't apply more pressure, be gentle.

  • Everyday morning and night wash your eyes with a splash of water. They will be healthier.

  • Use eye compresses. Simply take a piece of cotton pad and moisten it with the milk/rose water/tea water. Put it on your eyes and wait for 5-8 minutes. Apply a moisturizing eye cream of your choice. This will prevent inflammation of eyes.

  • Eat right, wear sunglasses to protect the eyes from pollution.

  • Sleep well so the blood circulation under your eyes improves. Your eyes need rest.

  • Opt for a good vitamin E eye cream. Retinols can remove discolorations.

  • Choose an eye product according to your specific needs and those which are specially formulated for the eye.

  • Spend some time before the mirror concentrating on your eyes. Analyze yourselves what changes you need to bring to your eyes.

  • Refrigerate your eye cream and use it cold. It works the best this way.

  • Cucumbers can cool and refresh the eyes. Keep two round pieces of cucumber on your eyes for 15 min and relax. Those with dark eyes can use potato slices too.

  • Apply oil to your eyes brows and eye lashes so that it will get lubrication and grows well.  Shape your eyebrows.

  • Try to use natural products. Olive oil can also be used to remove make up.

Hope these tips are quick, simple and useful. Share your ideas and feedback below!

5 minute Party Makeup Tutorial for Beginners - FOTD & EOTD

Hey damsels! I am here with a makeup look today after a long time. Nothing hard, it's just a simple makeup look for beginners to wear for birthday parties and other such occasion. Let me instruct you now how to get this simple look in 5 minutes.

5 minute Simple Makeup Look - FOTD and EOTD

Face

Lips

Eye Look

Instructions:

Face

  • Cleanse and moisturize your face. Make sure to use a matte moisturizer if you have oily skin, to control excess oil secretion for long hours. Dry skinned people should go for a nourishing moisturizer to avoid tight stretchy feel or white patches while applying makeup. A good nourishment in dry skin leads to smoother application and flawless finish.

  • After moisturizing your skin, start applying your concealer on the areas near nose, under eyes and flaws. Blend it well with your concealer brush without any streaky patches. You can also skip your concealer if your face is flawless.

  • When the application of concealer is done, you need to put on your foundation. You can use a powder foundation or a water based one if you have oily skin. Dry skins can go for cream foundation to get blended easily on the dry and rough parts. Make sure to select a waterproof foundation whatever your skin type is, to save your makeup from sweating.

  • Brush and dust your facial skin with a loose powder or a compact to set the foundation and even out your skin tone.

  • You have finished your base makeup now. The other things should be done are eye makeup, lipstick and lip gloss application and blush application (Optional). This makes a perfect and simple party look when worn lovely jewels along. Grand jewels suit with simple makeup look well than the overdone makeup.

Eyes

  • We have already applied a concealer to hide those dark circles and flaws around eyes, so no need to add anything extra for this simple makeup look. For a long staying powder of your eye makeup, do use a primer and set it with a loose powder again. One can also skip this step as this is optional.

  • If you are a beginner in using eye shadows, start with a single shade. Gently stretch your eyebrows with fingers upwards and notice your eye area. The entire skin covering your eyeball is the "Eyelid". Eye shadow shouldn't be applied over the eyelids as it may result in overdone look. Using your eyeshadow brush, give a washout of any subtle shade on your entire eye lid.  I have chosen a light pink shimmery shade here.

  • For double shaded eye look, mix a dark shade with your light one.  Gently apply a dark brown or ash eyeshadow near the outer corner of your eyes and blend both colours carefully with a plain brush. I have used a choco brown shade from Deborah Milano Trio Eyeshadow set and a pink shade from the same one. The pink is a light milky shade with visible shimmers while the brown is deep and less shimmery.

  • After the eyeshadow application is done, line your eyes as usual with your eyeliner and use kohl to highlight your waterline as per you wish. If you are planning to apply a coloured eyeliner to the occasion, make sure to draw a thin line with your black eyeliner first on the upper lash line before lining with the colour eyeliner. This trick will define your eyes beautifully! Put mascara and allow it to dry (optional). Your eye makeup is done.

Lips and Cheeks

I have done the lip makeup very simple here. I didn't even line my lips as I was in hurry to step out. I have just put on my Deborah Milano long lasting lipstick shade 07 along with Nivea Glamorous Gloss Pink Sugar Lip Gloss. Wearing a lip liner before putting on your lipstick is highly recommend. This will prevent bleeding of your lip colour.  I have used a light coral shaded blush from Nature's brilliance by sue here. Simply blend little amount of blush in your cheek apple, if necessary define your cheekbone.

Tit bit: Carry a compact and tinted lip balm on your handbag always. This will prevent your oily look and help you when your lipstick fades. Soft wiping tissues should also take place in your bag throughout the day.

Hoped your enjoyed this simple makeup tutorial. Do share your views and comments about it. Do also let us know if you have any particular makeup tip that you swear!

Natures Brilliance By Sue Mineral Eye Colors: Review, Swatches and EOTDs

Today, I am reviewing three mineral eye colors from Nature's Brilliance By Sue. I have been testing on their blush and lip balms too, which I will be reviewing later.  As this is my first review on their products, let us check more about the brand before the product description. About the Brand: Sue is the Sole Proprietor of Nature's Brilliance By Sue. It is located on the East Coast in a small town in New Jersey. It was formed to help people locate products for their skin tone & skin type. Sue has dealt with multiple allergies for years and through persistence and exhaustive research has found a line of natural mineral make-up and organic skin and body care products suitable for all skin types, even those with multiple allergies. Nature's Brilliance By Sue will not sell any product that is not 100% Natural or Organic and has not been tested by the owner her self. Sue has a Diploma in both Holistic Beauty Therapy and Holistic Herbal Therapy; with Certificates in Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Crystal Healing, and Business Development for the Alternative Health Therapist, from the Natural Health Institutes, based in Canada.

There is no detailed product description given, but as per the site these mineral eye colors are made of Mica, Iron Oxide. Matte shades contain Serecite (uncolored mica). These are mineral eye colors, hence that becomes a huge plus for all nature lovers. Why should we always go for the chemical ones?

My Experience with these Eye colors
I got a full size pack (Ocean blue) and 2 samples from the brand for reviewing purposes. From my point of view, the packaging is sturdy, fit and travel friendly. Still you need to be careful while application as there may be some fall outs because of the thing that they are loose eye pigments. The eye colors come in a cute small transparent plastic tub with handwritten shade name on the base. Isn't that natural for a mineral eye color? There is an inner vacuum lid present with tiny holes to prevent spillage, overall I don't find anything bad about the packaging.

From my personal experience, I loved all the three shades I got, especially the ocean blue one. The Ocean Blue shade has white, sky blue and bright ink blue shimmers which are glittery. To say about the Mint Shimmer shade, it is a lovely milky pale green shade with white and light green shimmers and the Blue Topaz shade is more glittery while comparing to the other two shades. The Blue Topaz one has a very slight ink blue tint which would not be that visible on your eyelids. All these shades are rich and smooth to be easily applied over your eyelids. A very small amount is needed for your whole eyelid area to achieve a soft look, however you can make it pigmented for a party or festival look. The shades ocean blue and mint shimmer are moderately pigmented with tiny shimmers while the blue topaz one shows just a little blue tint with more shimmery glitters. One needs to be more careful while applying their more glittery shades to prevent here and there' spreading of glitters around the eye areas.
Some shades from the range are moderate pigmented with tiny glitters while the others are very shimmery having a slight tint. Of course, there are some matte shades too. The staying power is approximately 5 to 6 hours which is pretty good for me. These mineral eye colors can be easily removed with your regular cleansing milk. Overall, the mineral eye colors from Nature's Brilliance By Sue are worth every penny to try. You would love to wear them for party and festival eye looks, of course, the less glittery shades can be worn for daily wear too. I am in love with these mineral eye colors mainly for the reasons that they are soft, glittery and available in several number of shades.

PROS
  1. Several shades with different textures available such as shimmer, sparkle and luster.
  2. It is a mineral makeup product. Hence, no need to fear for much chemicals.
  3. No side effects.
  4. Smooth and easy application.
  5. Glittery shades for party/festival wear.
  6. Easily removable with a regular cleansing milk.
  7. Staying power is  5-6 hours, which is decent.
  8. Cute, Sturdy and travel friendly packaging.
  9. Samples are available to try.
  10. Affordable for the worth and quantity they provide.
  11. The color doesn't tend to change. It fades eventually without looking artificial.

CONS
  1. I find nothing bad about these eye colors. You might not like it if you're a lover of deep pigmented matte shade lover. I am not sure though, check out their other shades.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Recommendation: I highly recommend these mineral eye colors to all eye makeup and eye color lovers. A wonderful collection to try!

Would I Repurchase?: Do you think I wont? Of course I will purchase more from their collection. I am currently eying out for the soft pink and coral shades.

Chessboard Eyemakeup Tutorial and EOTD

Chessboard eye makeup?  Have you ever heard about this thing anywhere? Even I haven't. I guess it's somewhat a beginner craze for me because I am obsessed with eye makeup nowadays. I am not a pro in it, but still I love to try different things on my eyes and post tutorials here. Please do bear with me girlies, I might not be excellent in these things :P I just do makeup my eyes, especially different things to pass time and show you all here. Okay how did I get this idea? Eager to know? huh I was simply cleaning and arranging things on my cupboard where I happened to see a chessboard. That's it! My brain starting working and connecting it with my makeup and this tutorial is the result of cleaning my cupboard today (after a long time, of course after receiving scoldings from my mom) "Lance.. Won't you keep your cupboard clean? " he he I went somewhere from the topic, let us move on to the tutorial now. Check out my other EOTDs here

Chessboard Eye Makeup Tutorial in 6 steps

Steps
1. Cleanse and prime your eyes. Dust with a compact and line your eyes normally as you line everyday, make it thin. You can also use kajal on your waterline if you wish.

2. Now starting from the center of your upper lash line, draw a slight curvy line pointing upwards. As shown in the image, draw 3 to 4 lines (make the lines little long one after one giving some mm between them).

3. After the lines dry up, draw lines horizontally (I messed up a little as it is my first try) :P till you finish with the last long vertical line. It should be somewhat like that the lower row contains many boxes and goes up in an ascending order.

4. Make sure, you should give time in between these steps to dry or else your eye liner would mess up. I used Lakme Insta Eyeliner here and I had to sit under fan for ages to dry :( I should have gone for something else for perfection. That's okay.. let's chill out.  After this step, you can see little boxes showing your eyelid skin colour.

5. Inside these boxes, fill your white eyeliner and allow it to dry. Touch up after drying for a perfect chessboard look. That's it. You are done! :D

The Final Look - EOTD

Simple isn't it? Share your opinions about this tutorial with me in your comments!

So girls, how many of you have chessboards in your cupboard? :P

Deborah Milano 24 ORE Eye Pencil Review, Swatches and EOTD

I have a huge craze about eye pencils and today I am reviewing a purple coloured eyeliner from Deborah Milano, a cosmetic brand. Before going into the review, let us see some lines about the brand and the eye pencil as per the site. About Deborah Milano: Deborah Milano, the brand that embodies Italian Excellence since 1962 Description     Creativity, Glamour, Design and Fashion: In a nutshell, MILAN! But the same four words also describe the 2011 Style & Color range by DEBORAH, Italy's leading make- up brand. Deborah Milano, the brand that embodies Italian Excellence since 1962. Offering creativity, beauty, passion, attention to detail and superb taste. As well as that uncanny Italian knack for creating unique designs reflecting that complexity of craftsmanship at mass production prices, transformed by designer genius into amazing "Objects you want to touch. Product Description: Eyeliner pen with a special felt tip. Easy to handle and quick to apply for a flawless line in just one stroke.  For a dramatic effect that lasts and lasts. Ophthalmologist tested. Don't forget to read my review of Deborah Milano Atomic Red Lipstick HERE

Deborah Milano Long Lasting Pencil Eyeliner

Shade: Not mentioned (I name it purple)

Price: Rs.214

My Experience with this Product

I always prefer eye pencils than liquid liners because, as you know I am a lazy girl :P Who will wait until the liquid one dries? It is not comfortable for me to line my eyes than the pencils. I am using this eyeliner pencil from Deborah Milano now and then for past two weeks. The shade is not mentioned on the pack but I say it has a purplish shade without any shine or glossy sheen, it is a perfect matte one.

The texture is so smooth and creamy and so I did not believe first that it would be water proof, but it is! Even after showing my hands under tap water for 30 seconds there is no fading of colour but it smudges. With few rubs, it completely disappears leaving a purple tint. This doesn't seems like a con for me because the another plus is, we can do some easy smokey effect with this. I don't know exactly but, because of the very creamy consistency I couldn't get that sharp tip however I sharpen it. So, forget about getting thin lines. I also did not get that thick line with a single stroke, it takes 3 or 4!

Even though being travel friendly and handy, I expected a sharpener with this which is needed more often.  It would have been very better if this comes in a roll on stick type pen but overall, I am quite impressed with this eye pencil for the beautiful purple shade. The staying power is approximately 6 hours only if you don't have the habit of touching your eyes :P Other than that, it is water proof so no complaints. The company doesn't claim much for this product, so it lives almost up to the claim.

And now comes, my EOTD. I used nothing other than this eye pencil and a kajal on my eyes.

I am loving this beautiful purple shade? Don't you?

PROS
  • Lovely purple shade
  • Smooth and creamy texture which gives a matte effect
  • Perfect for everyday wear. You can even make combos with your other liners.
  • Not that costly; On the pocket.
  • Doesn't sting when I used it on my waterline.
  • Waterproof
  • Sturdy, Travel friendly and hygienic.
  • I have no guess about the other shades, but it stays for a pretty good time.
  • You can smudge it easily and make a quick smokey eyes.
  • Can be easily removed with your normal cleanser.

CONS
  • No sharpener. Moreover, Sharpening causes wastage of the product.
  • You wont get the thick line with single stroke. Needs at least 3, though it's not a big con for me.
  • Not smudge proof (No claim, so it can be taken as a con. I am just mentioning)

Overall Rating: 4/5

My Recommendation: If you are looking out for a gorgeous purple, matte and water proof eyeliner, then go for it.

Will I Repurchase?: Why not? But the other shades.

So girls.. Which is your favorite pencil eyeliner?

Faces Glam on Eyeshadow Duo Amber Review, Swatches and EOTD

Hey girls! Today, I am reviewing an eyeshadow duo (2 shades) from the new Silk Luxury Makeup Range of Faces Canada Cosmetics which I received few days back (Photos and Preview HERE). Eyeshadow? I am not that expert in using shades, just a beginner to be frank. Still, I will give my best for this review now. This eyeshadow duo is one among the products in the Silk Range set, and I am reviewing this first for my sweet readers who asked me to do so. . In this post, I am also going to do a EOTD for you! he he :P Enjoy the swatches, pictures and the entire review now. (I don't want to blabber and waste your time more)

Faces Canada Cosmetics Glam On Eyeshadow Duo

Faces Glam On Eyeshadow Duo - Amber

Faces Glam On Eyeshadow Duo - Amber
Price: Rs.399 For 4 gm (2 X 2)

Shelf Life: 3 years

Product Description
Now create striking combinations with duos that have advanced long-wear formulation and a luxurious texture. It's the magic of Silk.

My Views and Ratings

The Packaging
Oh god! The packaging is so cute, glossy and sturdy! Classy too. The eyeshadow duo comes in a small rectangular shaped glossy case with a wide mirror and a pretty eyeshadow brush inside it. Short and sweetly, it is very beautiful, compact and travel friendly. Nothing bad I could find in it.
5/5

Colour and Texture
The duo I got had 2 shades. One is amber and the other one pinkish rose, not so overpowering, it's really mild and lovely. The amber shade has bronze glitters and the rose one has light pink glitters on them, To say about the texture, it is so smooth, glides so easily onto the delicate skin without any clump and yes! It's pretty smooth, rich and silky as per the name. Both shades had glittery shimmer effect which I loved the most. No complaints about the colour & texture factor too! I can't even find one.
5/5

Faces Glam On Eyeshadow Duo - Amber (Swatches)

How it Works
I am going to finish this part short and sweet, you will know more wonderful things about this eyeshadow seeing my EOTD. The shades are so lovely as they would suit most of the skin colours. Dark, pale, dusky whatever you are! These shadows just gives a flattering effect when worn as single or both mixed together. I prefer using single shade sometimes matching my outfit, thick double duo combination for parties and a very mild duo combination for shopping, hang outs etc. The dull rose near lash line and the amber on the brow line looks really beautiful, however you can do whatever mixing with these duos to make your eyes beautiful. I am just an eyeshadow beginner, yet I feel this one more easy and comfortable for application and getting the effect I desire. The best thing about this duo next to the shade is the staying power. It stays for 5 hours without fading without a primer and 8+ hours you can expect with your primer. The shadow doesn't crease, clump or fade unevenly. Hoo hoo short and sweet? I did this part more long :P because I love the duo so much! Seeing the quantity and the quality, it's inexpensive I would say. Overall, its a good duo with a great staying power, lovely shades, shimmer effect, smooth texture and a good shelf life of 3 years. A single pan will last longer really. Give a try for sure! There are some other shades from on this Duo case. The new Silk Range Duo rocks as per the claims!
5/5

Faces Glam On Eyeshadow Duo - Amber - FOTD
Faces Glam On Eyeshadow Duo - Amber - FOTD

Here's how I like to wear it for formal and casual wears
( Mixed together, concentrating the amber near brow bone line)

Products used
Faces Glam on Eyeshadow Duo - Amber
Lakme Instaliner Eyeliner
Himalaya herbals Kajal
Lotus herbals swift makeup 4 in 1 - Natural beige

That's it :) Please don't raise your eyebrows if I haven't applied the shades properly as I am just a beginner)

PROS
  1. Lovely shades, perfect for formal, casual and party wears. The trick is how you use them!
  2. The glittery particles gives a rich effect and highlights eyes and brow bone line.
  3. The staying power is really fantastic! Stays up to 8 hours without smudging or creasing with a primer. 5+ hours without a primer which is a very good staying time.
  4. The duo shades doesn't smudge and scatter all over face which most of the shadows do so. This will avoid shimmers showing here and there on your face.
  5. Even though it stays so long, gets removed with a single swipe with your cleansing milk.
  6. I guess it is water proof because stays on my eyes with heavy sweat too.
  7. These duo shades suits with most of the other shades, you can mix it for different effects.
  8. For the quality and quantity, price cannot be an issue. It is quite affordable.
  9. Doesn't fades unevenly. It is not going to fade at all for the whole day actually :D
  10. The packaging is glossy, cute, compact and travel friendly.
  11. A wide mirror inside which is so useful in applying the shades.
  12. The double side eyeshadow brush avoids mixing of shades. The brush is black and pretty too!
  13. Fragrance is very mild, you cannot find any artificial flavour in it.
  14. A good shelf life, so you can use for years.
  15. I have many more list of PROS for this product.. He he Just loving it to core!
CONS
Consss??? What cons?? Nothing like that.

My Recommendation: Sure, I highly recommend it!! A must buy product from the new Silk range of Faces Canada.

Overall Rating: 5/5

Will I repurchase?: You knew the answer already! Pretty sure, I will purchase again and again. (This eyeshadow duo is going to my HG list)
