Do you know what is a Kajal for me? It's a beauty product which I can never live without. Give me some lipsticks, glosses, foundations, concealer and anything else. I won't step out of my home without kajal on my eyes. That much I am crazy about kajals! I believe that using kajal highlight my eyes and make them look beautiful! Today I am reviewing a herbal kajal from Himalaya herbals brand. Herbal ingredients formula is great plus because no harsh chemicals in it, hence I excitedly started using this product a few days ago noting its pros and cons. I previously reviewed the Himalaya Moisturizing Lip Butter here and now let me give a detailed review on this Himalaya herbals kajal.

My Views and Ratings

The Packaging
This kajal comes in a green plastic roll on type pack, somewhat similar to inhalers :P but I loved it. The tip of the kajal is pointed and the cap is very sturdy which I can carry around without any fear. Few of the kajals which I used before really made me sick of cleaning my black stained hand bags :( and hence I am okay with this one. I felt that it would be much better if the entire kajal stick is inside as it's little pointed out. (Which may lead to breakage with careless handling).
4/5

Colour Consistency and Fragrance
The colour of the kajal is dark black and pigmented as same as homemade kajals. It is smooth and spreads easily onto the lash line, a single stroke is enough I felt. Fragrance is not that much strong, but it has a herbal kinda fragrance which may or may not hurt sensitive noses but I am okay with it. Nothing to say any bad much. I loved as it spreads without any hardness. Very smooth!
4.5/5

How it Works On Me
So, I will share my first time experience with you now. I opened the pack, rolled on and applied the kajal on my lash line. Left it as it is and went back to check my works. It stayed for 2 hours, then smudged :( when I splashed with water and wiped off, it has almost gone. The only good thing is that it doesn't cause any side effect at all. By the way, soon as I applied it cools down my eyes and refreshes it. Because of this property, I started to use this Kajal every night before going to bed! Magic! It made my eyes fresh and my eyelashes are thicker than before. I am going to use this Kajal for every night use as it has good effects on my eyes but not sure about day times as it smudges. I am totally okay with this kajal because it is made of natural ingredients, doesn't hurt my eyes and it glides smoothly and spreads evenly.

                                                                                Swatches

Rubbed Twice with bare fingers :(

Because of the staying power and smudging property, I am not that much impressed with this product :( but I am going to continue using this kajal because of its herbal goodness, cooling sensation and eyelash thickening properties. (Not sure about how it will work on you, but I am sure this is not going to cause any side effects)

PROS
  1. No side effects. Freshen eyes.
  2. Cooling sensation with every application.
  3. Prevents eyelash fall and thickens it upto an extent.
  4. Very dark shade, glides and spreads onto the lash line without any hardness.
  5. Easily available everywhere.
  6. Lasts for months hence a affordable buy I say.
  7. Not a pencil, so the product won't go waste in sharpening. Not a tub so you're escaped by being unhygienic (Dip your hands every time and applying on lash line.. oh god)
  8. The cap is sturdy, hence can carry around. Travel friendly!
  9. Easy to remove with normal cleansers.
  10. The kajal doesn't melt, the consistency is very thick and hard.
  11. Are you a glossy kajal lover? Then this will be your pick. It is not matte at all, it gives a shiny glossy look.
CONS
  1. Staying powder. It hardly stays for 2 hours.
  2. Smudges if I rub :( (Every other kajal does)
  3. If you are looking out for a matte finish, this kajal is not for you then. It is glossy.
  4. Not for oily eye lids anytime.
  5. The packaging should be better in only aspect that the entire kajal stick should be inside without pointing out.
My Recommendation: Looking for a side effect free, herbal, glossy finishing kajal? Go for it. I don't recommend this for day time use in oily eye lids. Overall, a good kajal for refreshing and cooling down eyes.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Will I Repurchase?: Sure! For every night usage. But I think it will take a long time to finish the one I have now :D

So girls, which kajal are you using? Any recommendations?

Disclaimer: Product sent by PR. But all my opinions remain honest.

Lakme Kajal Pencil in Black Shade Review

Hey girls! Hope you all read my Lakme Instaliner Eyeliner Review which I posted a couple of days before, I have mentioned that it is a great affordable eyeliner for starters. If you didn't check it out still, you can check here. Now let me review a Kajal from the Lakme brand. I shopped this 2 months ago from stylecraze and using it now and then. Since 5 years I am using kajal, which I started at my age of 12. I never ever go out without kajal because I feel my eyes are not fulfilled without at least kajal and eyeliner. Even If I don't have any compact, concealer or lippy I will be okay with it, but kajal and liner!! My god! I never can. Okay enough saying about my makeup history.. he he.. Let me share my experiences with this product with it's pros and cons. Keep reading!

Lakme Kajal (Black Shade)

❤Helps eyelashes grow longer.

My Views and Ratings

The Packaging
The kajal comes in a black coloured thick pencil stick with a transparent plastic cap and a golden colour bottom lid. As this is a pencil type kajal, it is easy to sharpen and use unlike other roll type or simply stick like kajals. The packaging is very simple, compact, handy and travel friendly as the cap is firm. Even though it is not much cute, it is quite good and well packed, hence I loved the packaging. The only thing that disappointed me is that the cap doesn't have a sharpener to sharp this kajal pencil. If the product comes with a sharpener I would be giving full rating for this :( Even though we cannot expect a sharpener for this cost, it still bothers me (I know.. Greedy me) :P
Rating: 4.5/5 (-0.5 for no sharpener)

The kajal in my palm to guess its size

Colour, Consistency and Texture
What to say about the colour? Already you would be knowing that it is black. No other shade is available. This doesn't bother me because I always love black in kajals. It is so thick in consistency as it comes in a pencil stick (Not much thick as other pencils though) but the texture is so smooth. It spreads smoothing over my water line and gives a black shade instantly. The shade should be more dark though, it's not enough for me. 2 swipes is enough for a thick application and hence a stick lasts for months. You can see the swatches (thin and thick) in my hand below..
Rating: 4/5

I rubbed with my bare fingers twice!

My Experience
To state about this product in single word, I can say that it is a daily "Home wear" kajal. It would suit home makers well because it has not much staying power. It barely stays for 1 to 2 hours without disturbing eyes, then gets disappeared. The good things are, it doesn't sting eyes or give me any side effects and even if smudges it doesn't show darkness below eyes much. The creamy kajal is dark, but has no good staying powder. This may be an advantage too for some people as it comes off easily without any trouble. About the eyebrow lash growth claim, they were somewhat true because it does stop my eyelash hair fall and made it healthier with regular use, thus it grows longer if there is no falling. This might because of it's natural ingredients like Castor oil and camphor. I love the product overall, worth of money, very affordable! If you are an eye makeup beginner, house wife, simple makeup lover, then go for it. Are you planning for going market, or a 1 hour shopping? Then you can use it without any fear. It's such a simple and great kajal for sensitive eyes and makeup starters.
Rating: 3.5/5 (No dark shade and No staying power)

PROS
  1. Very affordable and lasts longer.
  2. Smoothly spreads over waterline and doesn't sting my eyes at all.
  3. No side effects.
  4. Good packaging, travel friendly and handy.
  5. Will suit makeup beginners and house wives well.
  6. Easily available everywhere.
  7. Doesn't darkens "below eye area"much even if smudges.
  8. Does goodness to eyes! Cools down and makes eyelashes healthy with daily use.

CONS
  1. No sharpener (Shouldn't consider this as a con for this price though)
  2. No lasting power. Barely lasts for 2 hours.
  3. Not at all suitable for everyday wear (For college, workplace and occasions)
  4. The shade should be more dark.
My Recommendation: House wives, makeup beginners, sensitive eyed persons.. Go ahead! It is a lovely product without side effects and it does good to eyes too. Not for a makeup-ies, college girls or workers anytime!

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Will I repurchase again?: Sure! But I guess it's not going to get over soon! May take months :P
