NYE in Paris

As you are all aware, I celebrated NYE with my lovely sister in none other than Paris! I realised I didn't really do a post on it on this blog, so I've copied and pasted my post from my other blog so you can all see what we got up to!

Myself and my sister went for three days/two nights and I fell in love with the place. The sights were amazing, the atmosphere was exciting and their lifestyle and culture is so different. In France everyone is so, so sophisticated! Swapping sweaty clubs for delicious French cuisine and glam bars and eating so much food but still staying so thin is definitely something I could get used to.

Anyway, here's what we got up to!

The first thing that amazed me about Paris is how thin everyone is! I know it's a common assumption that everyone in France is thin anyway but I had no idea how true this would be. Hand on heart I only saw one larger lady whilst being there for three whole days (and we visited a LOT of Paris) and I'm not even sure she was French anyway! It must be all the smoking! Also, people in France really do love baguettes. I spotted so many people walking around just munching on their baguette, or a baguette just randomly sticking out of their handbags. I don't blame them though, they were lush! The second thing amazed me as we travelled to our hotel is that in France they sometimes use double decker trains. I found this amazing. Why can't London have double decker trains?!

On the first day we visited Notre Dame de Paris. Notre Dame, based in the gothic quarter of Paris is so beautiful. It's stunning and I really loved how gothic it was. It looked almost scary with the various gargoyles and stone statues. I saw one statue in the entrance of a lady standing on a squished man?! Notre Dame has such a rich history as well and there was no way we could visit France and not go here. We did go inside but none of the photos I took came out particularly well as we were not allowed to use flash photography. We did make sure to light a candle for our Papa Roy though :)

The beautiful Christmas tree just outside of Notre Dame, we were lucky to go just after Christmas as all the decorations were still up!

We spent NYE at Champs-Élyées (also known as The Avenue des Champs-Élyées) which is a really famous avenue leading up to the Arc de Triomphe. Before that we also went to this super expensive restaurant for dinner which was, wait for it, SIX COURSES! We only managed to eat five courses though I don't even know how! Anyway, for events like NYE, Champs-Élyées is THE place to be. It runs for 1.91 km and on NYE the whole avenue is packed with crowds celebrating the new year. It is also popular because it is host to various cinemas, cafés, luxury speciality shops, clubs and restaurants (it is one of the most expensive strips of real estate in the world!). Champs-Élyées to France is like Leicester Square in London - it's where everybody goes to celebrate NYE.

Myself and my sister at Champs-Élyées, and the photo above showing some of the decorations that run along the famous avenue. In France it is tradition to exclaim 'Bonne Année' which translates to 'Good Year' when the clock strikes 12!

After this we got chatted up by a few randomers who discovered we were English and then we were, as usual (yes it happens on a regular basis to us) stalked! I am partly to blame for this because I was eyeing up some bloke at the Arc de Triomphe (as we walked along the avenue and up to it). But I wasn't eyeing him up, he just looked like a spitting image of one of my ex's friends only chubbier so for a split second I thought it was him! Anyway we left and found a metro station which is when they began chatting us up, asking us to go out with them, asking us for kisses etc. We told them we had boyfriends and then one asked us for a 'baguette kiss' whatever that is, whilst the other claimed that having a boyfriend doesn't count as we were in another country! Then they tried to bribe us to come to their market stall the following day to give us free makeup? In the end they followed us to the Arc de Triomphe ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE METRO STOP OUTSIDE OF OUR HOTEL. All this way! Me and my sister ALWAYS attract the weirdos!

The following day we briefly visited the famous Moulin Rouge. What I didn't know (which should have been really obvious) was that it was based basically in France's red light district among sex shops, sex shows and places like that! I was surprised to find how different it was then how I expected it to be from the film. I thought it would be much more glam and I definitely thought it would be tucked away somewhere, not sticking out in the middle of a street filled with dodgy shops! Nonetheless you can still see why it's considered to be so famous, inside it still seems very glam and the shows look amazing.

After that we visited Monmarte

At the very top there is a church (Basilique due Sacré-Coeur) and from the top you can see a spectacular sight of the city. Along the climb there are also usually various artists performing such as buskers and mime artists (not typical mime artists but the people that are painted white all over and pretend to be statues, I'm not sure of their proper names!).

A carousel at the bottom of the hill with Basilique due Sacré-Coeur in the background.

The view from the top

When we got to the top we found that there was a Christmas fayre still running so we got some delicious mulled wine and hot chocolate (seriously, the best in the world!) before going inside Basilique due Sacré-Coeur.

The next day, as you can see, we visited The Eiffel Tower!

We waited in the end for about four hours to get to the top. We had wanted to go up in the evening and the long wait was horrible but it was worth it. We only actually stayed up the top for about 5 minutes and had to queue to get back down as well (I know you're all wondering why we bothered if we only stayed up there for 5 mins!) but I'm really glad we did. The view was one in a million, it was hand on heart absolutely astounding and made the wait more than worth it. The reason we didn't stay longer was because it was raining very heavily and it was extremely windy, I was worried the wind would blow the camera out of my hands!

This was taken from the second floor.

View from the very top. Sorry these photos aren't very good quality!

Then we went back to the gothic quarter near Notre Dame where they had all these cute slender backstreets which were filled with different places to eat and drink. Below is a photo of one of the streets, it doesn't do it justice. This area reminded me of The Shambles in York.

We ate in a cute Italian restaurant where we stuffed our faces yet again.

The ceiling of the restaurant.

The restaurant had notes from all different currencies hanging up and people had signed them which I thought was cool!

The Notre Dame at night.

The following day we were pretty exhausted and after checking out of the hotel we only had a couple of hours before checking our train. So we ended up in a posher part of Paris where we had a nosey around the shops and visited another pretty church before heading back.

We had the most amazing time ever and I'll never forget it!

Catch Up & DVD Shopping Spree

There's not much to blog about recently I'm afraid! I've actually spent my time since Christmas trying to sort out my social life - with being away for uni for three years I've drifted apart from a lot of friends and over Christmas I spent some time finding out who my real friends are. Since then I've been making more effort with some good friends and trying to make some new ones so I've been trying to get out a lot more which leaves less time for blogging! I've also been getting my head down and trying to sort out the next step of my life after uni. I've been applying for internships left right and centre as well as constantly hunting for jobs that are anything to do with Magazine Journalism.

So between all this and having the flu last week, I've been having a bit of writers block. I've struggled to think of things to blog about. I don't define this blog as strictly a beauty blog because I only do the odd beauty related post here and there. I like to do posts about my lifestyle but I don't like to have too many of these posts. So I have struggled a bit! If anyone has any ideas on what posts you'd like to see more of then please do let me know!

Anyway I've decided my DVD collection is a bit slack these days so last week I went on a shopping spree on play.com and ordered a bunch of my favourite films. I'll show you all what I bought, just in case anyone is after a new film to buy. All of these films I have absolutely loved, so I've been watching a lot of them over the weekend.

How I Met Your Mother Seasons 3-4
I know this isn't a film but who can resist a bit of HIMYM?!
Nick & Norah's Infinate Playlist
This isn't strictly speaking a typical rom-com - but its great nonetheless
You Again
Chalet Girl
Burlesque
Going The Distance
Kate & Leopold
What's Your Number
This is fast becoming one of my favourite ever movies plus Chris Evans - yum!

Hope you're all well and expect some more regular blog posts soon :)

How to Save Your Tongue Aftering Eating Something Really Spicy? {Instant Remedy}

You are wondering why is this post now, Right? It's all because of my own experience just before 15 minutes :( Yes. I have bitten a stupid green chilly! While eating fried rice, bit it without conscious and it burned my tongue like hell. Still now it's burning, but better than the beginning. I did few things to reduce the burning sensation on my tongue and I am feeling really better now. Just felt to share this with you all, so that when you bite something spicy next time, you will remember this and heal from this burning sensation fast.

Ice Water Treatment
Keep in mind, don't drink excess water after eating something spicy because it's not going to make your irritation reduce faster. Moreover, it spreads the spice particles allover your mouth. All you have to do first is, sip almost frozen ice water. Why I am saying is, this makes your tongue less sensible and thus it reduces the burning sensation.

Bread to Absorb The Tiny Spice Particles
It was said to me by my friend that bread when eaten after eating something spicier reduces the burning sensation in tongue and lip as it absorbs the tiny spice particles. So have some bread! don't forget.. Only fresh bread. Its healthier and safer to eat bread only on the same day they were packed, throw away others.

Milk or Other Diary Products
After the ice water and bread treatment, have some milk. Milk calms down the tongue and makes it get recovered from irritation due to spices like chillies or pepper. Butter would be better though :p
That's it. This information will be more than enough for you. Please don't feel that it is a very big procedure. If your burning sensation stopped after having ice water, then no need to follow the other steps.

Note: After any "Chilly" experience like this, don't  forget to apply lip care or even butter over your lips to nourish and calm them, so they will be alright without any change in colour or texture.

Hope this post helped.
This is my chilly story and have you ever bitten a chilly or any other spicy thing? Let me know your experience by sharing it in the comments below :P

Why sore breasts

Why sore breastsThe question really is not romantic.
Doctors are relentless: Any chest pain should seriously alerted the woman. Even if your personal pain visits you each month with PMS - normal breast should not hurt. And while you dial a number and receptionist to order coupons mammologist - here's a list of pains and their causes.

The first kind of pain - cyclicalIt comes with enviable regularity, comes around the same time, and disappears without a trace.
Typically, cyclic pain are companions of menstruation: when they hurt both breasts - especially the upper and outer area of the breast, the breast swells, heavy, swells, there arises a feeling of fullness.
Cyclical pain can be a simple reaction to the hormonal changes in the body - and can testify that you have developed breast.
90% of women passed the initial stage of this unpleasant disease just because they consider the cyclic pain for granted.
As an alternative cyclic pain may be a response to hormonal or anti-depressant medications that you are eating, and, incidentally, is a good reason to welcome these very products cease.
Noncyclic pain that comes as she pleases, and goes suddenly, or not go at all - even more formidable symptom.
The main feature of the non-cyclic pain - it is localized in one of her breasts, distinguished by a special intensity that can go on under his arm and felt as a burning or stinging.
Noncyclic pain is a symptom:
abnormality in the structure of the breast;• cyst;• mastitis;• trauma chest;• an imbalance of fatty acids;• the formation of fibroids;• the presence of tumor.

So it all seriously. Only a doctor can determine if you should worry about the non-cyclic pain. The most terrible moments that accompany pain are: general intoxication, fever, "orange peel" on the surface of the breast, inverted nipple, and even more so - the selection of him.
So girls, if pain or aching breasts - no sin to love or betrayal. Immediately go to the doctor.

Thrush and pregnancy

You are pregnant. Hormones are going wild and begin the intense activity in your body.
You're against? There is nothing you can do about it!
And yet, thrush is not asleep.
With the onset of pregnancy, hormonal changes a woman's body.
And "sweet couple" progesterone and estrogen begin to change the acid balance of the vagina. Such rejection of the acid side, excellent conditions and promotes proliferation of agent - family of fungi Candida.

Contributing to this decline and the natural resilience of immunity during pregnancy. A weakening of the protective properties of leukocytes in the blood during this period helps growth and reproduction of the pathogen.
Thrush in pregnancy - a phenomenon often, but not harmless.
Therefore be indifferent as to the ordinary laws of this state, it is impossible.

Yet this infection. And any infection is a potential danger.
Thrush can complicate the course of the pregnancy itself and increase the risk of infection of the fetus and newborn.
During pregnancy, the usual symptoms - itching of the vulva, cheesy vaginal discharge, pain during urination - may be absent.
Therefore, accurate diagnosis is possible only after a medical examination and laboratory studies, which include microscopic examination and bacterial culture.
The doctor takes a swab from the vagina, and then examines it under a microscope - in the presence of infection, the cells of the fungus are clearly visible.

Then make the crop using a special environment and the resulting number of germinated colonies.
Only after that, the doctor can make any conclusions.
If you still diagnosed "thrush" did not pass your side during pregnancy, you should consult with your obstetrician about the optimal choice of the method and means of treatment.
Because some medications used to treat yeast infections in the normal state, may be contraindicated for pregnant women because of their overall impact on the body and the fetus as well.
It is best suited for the treatment facilities that have a local impact: candles, creams, ointments.
In addition to medical treatment try to stick to a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, with the exception of the sharp, sour, salty, smoked products and limiting sweets and baked goods.

REVIEW & LOTD: Inglot Freedom System Lip Pan No. 66

Grocery shopping essentially entitles me a minimum of 20 mins of browsing the beauty section where I go through the various Vega brushes, comb sets, bath sets etc for the millionth time. I never pick up anything from there but I still love browsing through the same wares on display week after week, month after month. What attraction it holds for me I don't know. Last Sunday again saw me rifling through all the brushes and combs that were on display but I surprisingly actually picked up something! I picked up a "lip brush" from Dio. No no even I had never heard of this brand before but out of impulse I picked this up and then I completely forgot about it! Just last night cause I was not getting any sleep, I started arranging my dresser when I realised that my Inglot Freedom System Lip Palette was lying forgotten in a corner. In order to cheer the palette up (yes yes my make-up are my babies and I like to pamper them), I brought out the new lip brush and applied each lipstick shade from the palette one by one. I was immediately taken back to my honeymoon (I had bought the palette just before leaving for my honeymoon) and was reminded of the clear blue-green sea and white sands of Maldives :) Sighhhh... *happy* *happy* :D Sharing some pics with you guys...

So anyways, my Inglot lip palette is again on the fore of my dresser and I know I wont rest till I hit pan with it :) Today I am wearing shade 66 and and it is complimenting my brown eye shadow from Faces Beechwood trio beautifully :) Shade 66 as you can see is a beautiful natural pink. Texture wise it is really creamy and feels very moisturizing on the lips.

Before I go any further with reviewing lip shade 66, I guess the Inglot Freedom System does have a mention that is due to it. By now most of us know about the freedom system at Inglot and it is something that totally leaves MAC and other brands behind. Why? Cause in the same palette you can have your eye shadows, lipsticks, concealers, brow wax etc!!! Can you imagine that? You can get yourself a mini travel kit in one palette! Awesome isn't it? :D Now lets just come back to our lippy review...

Unforgettable Moments and My Own Clicked Pictures of 2011 {Sure you'll love this post}

Hiya Readers! I am very happy at present.
This is the very first time I am going to post my own pictures and some other pics clicked by me in MABH and hope you will like it.
None in my home was ready to click a pic of me :( So, each and every picture that I am posting now is my own front cam click and please do forgive me for the clarity. Please do leave your comments after taking a look at my 2011 pictures whether good or bad is in your mind :P
Just to remember last year and how I looked last year, I am doing this post even when the pictures are not that great. Every year's look is important for me as I have planned to gain some weight this year, so that I can compare in future how skinny I was! I hate being skinny totally. I am just about 90 pounds for 5'7 at the age of Sixteen. Couldn't believe right? Whatever I eat, I never gain even a single pound, not even a milligram! I don't know why this happens and I have taken a resolution to increase 20 pounds this 2011. If you have any ideas, please do drop them in comments and help this skinny girl to gain weight. As I am leaving my school this year and entering college, it is very very needed for me to gain pounds to look normal.

To make this post little interesting, other than boring you with my pics alone, I would like to include the clicks I did which I loved most in 2011. So, I will describe every picture with the incident I have crossed by :D Before displaying my images, Let me show you what I am interested in. This might seem good for someone or  even funny for others, but the truth is that "I love animals". I can never tolerate if anyone hurt animals, especially stray animals. If I come to see stray dogs, I never pass them without feeding  biscuits and clicking them. If it is a puppy, I'll surely get him/her to blue cross even my parents shout at me that I am doing stupid things. I just want to say one thing to you all this time. If you are in a plan to get a dog for your home, please do adopt a street puppy rather than buying costly breeds. There are thousands of people who are ready to buy them, but not street dogs. Because of the appearance and cost, they are not greater or going to care you, be faithful more than normal dogs, all are same. If you adopt a stray puppy, that means you are saving a dog's life and further generation from begging for food and dying from diseases and road accidents. Hope you will think about my words. The first set of pics will be my fav animal pics which I clicked in 2011.

A Little Brown Stray Puppy {Which made my day}
I was coming home from parlour where I went for shaping eyebrows. On the way, at the corner of a street when it was cloudy, I saw him. He was so little, cute but fear was in his eyes as he was alone without anyone or  food. He hadn't even learned to walk that time as he was too young. I fed him milk biscuits and clicked him a cute snap, then sent him to blue cross safely. I was very happy that day as I saved a puppy from growing as a stray dog, getting hurt by heartless human animals in road. This is my sweet "he", a lovely brown puppy.

Buffaloes, The Pitiful creatures of Cities
I never realized until I saw a calf's death last year that few human are this much cruel. This incident made me cry a whole day and I can never forget it in my life. In cities like Chennai, Delhi or Bangalore etc, if a cow gives birth to a buffalo calf, it will be sent to village for farming purposes and the other ones are tied in road sides, in hard sun or rain. They are same as babies, how can people be inhuman like this? As buffaloes are not much useful in cities (No farms here, they are not going to give milk too) some heartless people tie them in road sides, without even allowing them to drink milk from their mother cow. Last year, a calf was tied near my home. At first, I was very happy that I got a pet near my home, so that I can see him, play with him daily when I come back home from my school. I fed that calf with bananas daily, he was so cute, healthy and looked like a fluffy black and white baby with a lucky star in his forehead. He was really active, playing all the time and he used to lick my hands when I feed him. Day by day, without proper food and water he gradually got weak, became bony. The stupid owner of him didn't even allow him to drink milk from mother. One sorrowful day, he disappeared. Then the persons in nearby shop informed me that he was dead. At that moment, if the owner of that little calf came in front of me, whoever he might be, I would have surely slipper-ed on his face with my pointed heels.
From this incident onwards, I never forget to feed calves or even cows in road sides who become slaves of human animals. They do cry, they suffer and they die for these beasts. These human are unfit to live and should get the punishment for sure. OK let us forget this sad incident, here's a click of another calf, who is living healthy now :) I used to feed him too.. He love cakes.

And a cute black cow who lives in nearby temple.. (He loves me a lot) :D

Now let me finish this thing and come to my pics :)
The first one I would like to show you is the pic which made me win Lakme fruit blast contest and get a BB mobile. Click here for more details about how I won this contest. I was clueless, still now I couldn't find whether the judges were Okay or Blinds? :p
The picture is blurred, and I accept I am not good looking too. But the luck of 2011, made me win gift hampers and a BB curve mobile..and this is the pic.. :D (Don't laugh at me please)

And the first picture I took myself from my new BB mobile...
{As I said earlier, who is going to click me? So myself clicked seeing the mirror}

One of my funny friend at last made me look more funnier by compelling me to wear a cap and take a snap
The one and only eye spoiling cap pic of mine is here for youuu alllllllllll..

Few more pics of mine that I wanted to show you all..
{It's rare that I wear chudi, wearing in first and second pics below pic}

This is the reaction of seeing hindi serials in colours :P he he

My Pink Chudi, with mismatching earrings :D

Clicked it while sitting on the balcony of my old house

That's it friends! No more boring. :) I finished the post, surely a late post. As I am a lazy girl, I felt lazy to post this in the first week of Jan itself. Okay, do forgive me for the pics clarity and sorry if I bored and wasted your precious time :P I finally posted my unforgettable moments and pics of 2011 here.
Please do leave your comments and what you think of this post hence this is the first post I am posting my pictures. Thank you :) Have a lovely time!

With love,
Yours
Lance..
