Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm in Cranberry Jam

Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care in Cranberry Jam Review

by Chand

Hi All,
Today we are going to check a Chand's review on one of the most favorite lip balms of girls out there, the Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm. Read below for detailed review on the same.

Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm in Cranberry Jam

What does the Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm Claims:

  • Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm
  • Revitalizes dry / dull lips
  • Gives moisturizing shine
  • Softens and smoothens lips
  • SPF – 16
  • Dermatologically tested
  • Non sticky texture

Price & Quantity: Rs.110 for 4.5g (I bought when it was priced at Rs.99)

Shade: Cranberry Jam

Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm in Cranberry Jam

Key Ingredients: Jojoba oil, Safflower seed oil, also contains Vitamin E

Usage Instructions: Apply daily on lips.

My Experience with Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Lip Balm:

Packaging: A circular tube with circular patterns all over the tube is the packaging of Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care lip balm. The tube is a twist up one with a plastic pressing cap. The cap shuts with a click.

Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm in Cranberry Jam

Colour, Texture & Fragrance: Cranberry Jam is a bright pink shade. However, it is not very bright on the lips. The consistency of the lip balm is very thin and it very light on the lips too. Though it is a lip balm, it does not have that thick waxy texture. Maybelline Lip Smooth Lip Balm forms a thin coat like an oil film. The fragrance is exactly similar to the fruity scent. The smell is very light which stays for sometime and then vanishes off.

How it works: Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care is a moderate lip balm. Those who do not need heavy lip treatment can easily use this product. It moisturizes the lips good enough. It makes a perfect daily use product. The lips do not need any lipstick or lip gloss when this product is used. Maybelline Lip Smooth serves both the purpose, gives the color to the lips and also glossy finish.

It stays on for at least 3 hours with some fading. When it fades, it does not leave the lips dry or flaky.

The re applying of this product is also easy. A little twist up from he tube and a gentle swipe on the lips will do the job. There is no fear of color going too dark on the lips. The product is very travel friendly too. No worrying about the cap getting opened or product spilling out or even melting in its tube.

Overall, I adore this product just the way it is.

PROS of Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Lip Balm:

  • Twist up tube.
  • A little of the product is sufficient for one use.
  • The entire tube will go a long way.
  • Contains SPF.
  • Tinted lip balm.
  • Gives a glossy shine to the lips.
  • Very thin texture.
  • Staying power is good.
  • Hydrates dry lips.

CONS of Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Lip Balm:

  • Does not help heavily chapped lips.

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 4/5

Do I Recommend Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm:
Yes, you have to have at least one of the available shades from this range.

Would I Repurchase Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm?:
Not really, I get bored with lip products very soon. I will try other variants of Maybelline lip care products.

Have you tried Maybelline Lip Smooth Color & Care Refreshing Tinted Lip Balm in Cranberry Jam? Which is your favorite variant girls?

REVIEW: Maybelline Colorsensational Jewels Lipstick in ♥ Pink Tourmaline ♥

Maybelline as a brand I feel is very tuned to India (though there is no excuse for launching the color tattoos and baby lips one year late) but the lippy shades and the eye palettes that it does launch in India are very flattering to our skin tones. In the same tune, they launched their Jewels Range just before the festivities started... Dussehra, Diwali and then the extravagant Indian Wedding season...

The lippy that I shall be talking about and hence reviewing today is Pink Tourmaline from the Colorsensational Jewels range. It is pink, it is frosted and it is festive! Now before you go away thinking to yourself "Ewww I don't wear frosted lippies that too in Pink", might I add that I myself never wear frosted lippies but this wonder here has made me see frosted lippies in a brand new light altogether :) It has an understated frost and it doesn't look OTT and definitely doesn't make you look like an actress from the 90s ;) If you know what I mean :P

It is a beautiful shade and super flattering. How does Maybelline come up with such shades is quite a riddle for me!

Like it's older colorsensational counterparts, this is also super moisturising, non-drying and very well pigmented... The packaging is super pretty and the quantity you get for the price is just so awesome and budget friendly :) It's staying power (on me) is almost 6 hours with 3 cups of coffee, 1 bowl of cornflakes and 4 bourbon biscuits... Yup I counted whatever I ate just for you guys ;)

Oooohhsss And Aaaahhhsss!!!
1. The shade is flattering to the core!
2. The packaging is beautiful
3. It has an understated frost, which isn't jarring or 90s.
4. It is super moisturising.
5. Doesn't dry my lips.
6. Good pigmentation.
7. Doesn't cause any irritation/itching/flaking
8. Pocket friendly price.

Ouches!!!
1. Nothing really except the fact that people wary of frosted lipstick shades might not find it very appealing!

Price
It costs INR 350/-

Repurchase?
I would definitely! Actually, I mught just try other shades from this range too ;)

Would I Recommend?
If you have a light or medium skin tone then you should surely go for it especially if you are looking for a festive Pink lip shade. Darker toned girls might find the shade a bit jarring on them.

REVIEW: Maybelline Baby Lips Color In Cherry Kiss

Before Maybelline launched it, I never ever wushed for Baby Soft Lips. I mean come on! I have wished for Angelina Jolie Lips, Soft Lips, Kissable Lips but who ever thought of Baby Soft Lips? I know right! Ha ha :D

But then am a beauty blogger, am I not... And I am a girl... The moment they launched it in India, I had to have it and so I got myself the Color version in Cherry Kiss :D

Its basically a regular lip balm in stick form with a really mild Cherry flavor and a almost non-existent reddish tint. I like it cause it is super moisturising, makes my lips all shiny and does not have a strong fragrance :) To be honest, it is quite addictive you know! You just want to go on re-applying it :)

But if you want to compare it to other lip balms, it isn't anything extra-ordinary... I mean its good but nothing about it makes it stand apart from other good lip balms...

The only con that I find with this product is that the diameter of the "stick" is a bit too big for my thin lips... Which is why I prefer the Maybelline Lip Smooth Color Bloom Lip Balm over these babies :)

Oooohhss And Aaaahhhss!!
1. Cute packaging
2. Very subtle tint of color
3. Very understated flavor/fragrance
4. Moisturising!
5. Easily available at all Maybelline counters

Ouches!!!
The only "ouch" that I can think of is that its diameter is larger than my lips' thickness and so the product gets "applied" outside my lip line :(

Price
It costs INR 150/-

Repurchase?
Hmmm I doubt it. Like I said, I'd prefer to go with the Lip Smooth Color Bloom range :)

Would I Recommend?
Oh yes! As a lip balm its awesome and I really cannot think of any cons with it other than the one I listed above :) It's quite a must have this Winter season :)

REVIEW & LOTD: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo In Audacious Asphalt

I am hooked to these things... I really feel that Maybelline has hit jackpot with launching these beauties and everytime I think I'll do an EOTD, I cannot help but reach out these beauties... Guess am in love (again!) :D

Today's review is about Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt. I am not a huge fan of silver or gunmetal shades, so why I picked this up is beyond me but one thing's certain and that is the fact that I am totally loving belting out EOTDs with it one after the other... Yup I did three looks with this little thing here and I am bowled over!

I will not repeat the points that I said while reviewing Fierce and Tangy (review here).
Audacious Asphalt is a shimmery gunmetal shade that is highly pigmented and can be used as an eye shadow as well as a base.
It takes a couple of seconds more to dry than Fierce & Tangy, but nothing that could be termed as an issue.

It is a gorgeous shade :)

REVIEW & LOTD: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo In Fierce & Tangy

There is no denying the fact that Orange was the color of 2012 and might even spill over to half of 2013... If you didn't know this, then either you have been in a coma (God forbid) or are really really trying your best to clear your IIT entrances ;) Cause Orange has been everywhere... From apparels to accessories to makeup! And when I say makeup, I mean lipsticks, eye shadows, eye liners, lip glosses, blushes and well even concealers ;) And continuing the trend Maybelline, when finally launched its Eye Studio Color Tattoos in India, it continued with the shade of Orange called Fierce and Tangy as is available in other countries. They did decide to drop "Tough As Taupe" :( I had really been looking forward to that shade and well they just didn't introduce it here :( One of my Italina blogger friend Suhrya of Drama&Makeup says that Maybelline launched only 4 shades in Italy! That really makes me feel better now ;) LOL...

So anyways, going ahead with the review, I bought this shade cause I was just too bored of seeing goldens and coppers and bronzes and silvers and wanted a bright yet everyday wearable shade and since we didn't get Taupe in India, I had to settle for Orange :) Now Fierce & Tangy is a light Orange shade with minute (please DO NOT read it as "mi-nut" but DO read it as "my-new-t" :P) golden specs that blend with the Orange so well that it isn't really first noticeable but comes to life when you are taking pics with flash ;) And I love this effect! It instantly brightens my eye area :D

This can be used as an eye shadow as well as an eye shadow base. It when used alone looks pretty neutral yet bright on me and I love the effect :) I have been going through Indian beauty blogs and this shade hasn't really been reviewed or raved about much but trust me it is a very wearable shade and that too a pretty one :)

The best part about the product is it's loooooooong staying power. It just stays on and refuses to budge. I have experimented with it on un-primed, oily lids of mine in Mumbai's humid weather and I swear it stayed on me for more that 10 hours and that's like forever in my books! :D

Another important good thing about this is that it is water proof but not water resistant. This means it will not result in smudging and creasing and all that when you get wet i.e. it is water proof. But it is not water resistant is that it comes off easily when you wash it with soap and water, so it doesn't get weird when you wash your face and can really be easily removed. I hate it when I have to struggle to remove my eye makeup :(

I really feel that Maybelline has finally come out with a prize product that can easily be compared with MAC's Paint Pots but way cheaper! If Maybelline introduces newer shades in this range then it can surely give MAC a run for its money where Paint Pots are concerned.

2. Water proof but not water resistant.
3. This really is a gorgeous and a flattering shade!
4. It comes with a flat brush
5. Really affordable
6. I love things that come in little glass jars and dibbis
7. It can be used as a base as well :)
8. It doesn't make the eyelid itch or causes any reactions.
9. Very easily available.
10. Comparable to MAC Paint Pots but wayyyyyy cheaper!

Ouches!!
1. Just that it dries up fast and so you have to really quick with blending. I personally feel applying it with your fingers is much easier than with any brush.

Price
It costs INR 350/- with a brush!

Repurchase?
I am already contemplating buying a couple of backups for this shade ;)

Would I Recommend?
Oh definitely! This is a must have for Indian skintones and if you have been wary of Orange in your makeup then remember, Orange shadow is much easier to wear than an Orange lippy or gloos ;)
Plus they are comparable to MAC Paint Pots but way cheaper!

REVIEW: Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in "Hooked On Pink"

I knew I was on the right track by banning myself from buying makeup when last Friday, while clearing my dresser, I found a brand new tube of Maybelline's Colorsensational Lippy in Hooked On Pink. Imagine! A brand new and forgotten tube of a lipstick. Yup! I found some more stuff as well but that's for future posts...

Now coming back to this Maybelline lippy, I was so excited of finding it that I have been wearing this lippy everyday since Friday :P And well I love it at the moment :) Its a pretty plummy pink (on my lips), not as bright as the other pinks that I own and still a little brighter than MAC Craving :) Its a super versatile shade that would suit many Indian complexions (mind you I said many and not all) and would be gorgeous in the three seasons that we get in India viz Hot Summers, Cool Winters and well sticky monsoons :P

You all know the moisture extreme range from Maybelline is super hydrating, has a decent satying power of about 3-4 hours and well is easily within our budgets :)

One downside of this product would be that a single swipe of this lippy isn't enough to cover my pigmented lips. I need at least 3 swipes for it to look decently opaque on my lips :(

Oooohhhss And Aaaahhhsss!!!
1. Moisturising and perfect for dry lips.
2. The shade is flattering on many Indian skintones and well wearable in all seasons.
3. Not expensive!
4. It has an attractive tube and looks pretty on the dresser!
5. Very very easily available in all cities across India :)

Ouches!!!
1. Pigmentation isn't too great for pigmented lips :(
2. A very common shade of Pink and I guess is easily dupable, though at 299/- I doubt you'd need a dupe :P

Price
It costs INR 299/-

I am not sure.. I might as well try some other shades from this range... This isn't really a rare shade of Pink now!

Would I Recommend?
If you are looking for a budget buy in pink lipsticks and if your skintone is Indian light or medium, you can buy it with your eyes closed. If perhaps you are on the Indian darker side or have pigmented lips like I do, then I would suggest you to first try it before buying :)

LOTD & Video Tutorial: A Quick Makeup Look

I told you all last week how my Saturdays are generally spent with my guy going to office and me getting ready and seeing him for lunch :) Well this Saturday was no difference and we went to Cafe Linger On for lunch where we actually won a Quiz contest held by them as well ;) So all in all a Saturday well spent! :D

Here's the look I did this Saturday... Nothing too fancy rather a quick one mostly cause I slept in late and well wasn't left with much time to get ready ;) So I did a flat 4 mins look and tell me if you guys like it... Also, as you all know I am lately obsessed with making video tutorials, I have made one for this look too. Its a quick look, makes you look all fresh and girly and hence perfect for a daytime appointment :) Do check out the video as well and "like", "favorite" and do "subscribe" :)

This honestly is a flat 4 minutes look and perfect for times when you are in a serious hurry! :D
P.S. I have done a similar look in the past but then I haven't really done a tutorial for it before :P

And here's the tutorial for it!

Feedbacks are welcome! :)

REVIEW & LOTD: Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Rum Raisin

Pune doesn't really get cold during the winters. The nights are sometimes chilly and yeah the early mornings make you want to dive back into your blankets but that's about the amount of winter that Pune sees. Some people say we are lucky and get to enjoy a temperate climate while some argue that if we don't get to bundle up in our furs faux of course and leather jackets with scarves and mufflers then we haven't experienced winters. With my in-laws giving me 4 degrees type of weather updates from Delhi and even my mom shivering in Mumbai (yes Mumbai!), I kinda feel left out :( But I haven't let this deter me from getting into the wintry mood and my makeup picks have started leaning towards Fall type of colors and textures :) Being in sync with this leaning of mood, I went and got myself "Rum Raisin" from Maybelline Moisture Extreme range of lipsticks.

Rum Raisin as you can see in swatches is an extremely difficult color to describe. It has a bit of red-maroon, brown-copper and bronze. What would you call this shade? I am going with reddish bronze (or maybe bronzish red?) :P I bought this shade on a whim cause when I swatched it on my hand, I just thought what the h*ck, it's Winter time! :D It as you can see is a wintry shade and very different from what I generally wear. It's a warm shade, which is interesting and quite unique...

1. They boast of a huge variety of shades that range from neutrals to browns to corals to pinks to reds to maroons.
2. The lipsticks are extremely moisturising and do not dry the lips.
3. They do not cause any reactions and do not end up darkening the lips in the log run
4. They are totally odorless.
5. Decent staying power of about 4-5 hours.
6. Very easily available.

7. This shade especially fades to a beautiful stain and stays on for about and extra hour :)

Ouches!!
1.  They are not really transfer proof
2. They rub off quite easily.
3. They could have made the packaging more attractive!

Price
They cost INR 220/-
