Chandra Body Care Detox Bath Salt Review

Guest Post by Christina

Chandra Body Care Detox Bath Salt Review

I came upon it by chance in a beauty store.  Since we do not have bath tubs in India one does not often use bath salts and bubble baths but I thought why not use it to soak my feet for a home style foot spa.  It turned out to be a great buy and something that I use regularly.

Product Description:

  • Helps removing dead skin cells
  • Gets rid of toxins from the body
  • Leaves the body stress free and relaxed

Price & Quantity: 500 gms for 300 INR

Key Ingredients:
  • Natural HimalayanDead Sea and Epsom Salt
  • Sodium Bicarbonate
  • Citric Acid
  • Essential Oils of Grape Fruit
  • Lemon
  • Peppermint
  • Ginger
  • Neem Leaves

My Experience with Chandra Detox Bath Salt:

Packaging: Sturdy and travel friendly plastic bottle

Colour, Consistency & Texture: The product consists of coarse and finely milled salt that melts on contact with water.

How it works: It is easy to use in the comfort of your own home and I just love it.  I soak my feet in it almost three times a week.  It takes away the soreness from my tired feet as well as accumulated dirt in your toe nails from treading the streets of Mumbai.  I also use it as a foot/hand soak when I need to do a home pedicure/manicure. You can use it in your bath tub if you have one.  You have to add 5 tablespoons to the tub, fill it with warm/hot water and then soak it up.
I keep one little bucket aside only for this purpose so that it remains clean and hygienic at all times.  All I do is put a table spoon or too of the product in about 2 litres of warm water and soak my feet in it.  The big granules melt soon and all you are left with is cloudy water and a few ingredients that float around in the bucket.  I mixed some in a cocktail glass for you to see how it looks.
You can then soak your feet in it for as long as you like.  When the water gets cold add some more warm water and a bit more salt. It’s as simple as that.

Pros of Chandra Detox Bath Salt:

  • Inexpensive
  • Easy to use
  • Can be used in the comfort of your own home
  • Eases soreness in the feet as well as swelling
  • Can be used during your home pedicure routine also
  • Contains good therapeutic ingredients
  • It is paraben free
  • Chandra does not test its products on animals
  • There are no added artificial colours
  • It has no added fragrance

Cons of Chandra Detox Bath Salt:

  • Availability is limited
  • Not available online yet

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 4/5

Would I Repurchase Chandra Detox Bath Salt?:
Yup!  I’ve already used 2 bottles and this is my third.  Let’s face it, money does not grow on trees and not all of us can afford to go to a spa every other day for a foot massage and a soak.
As women we work at home as well as outside of it and end up with painful bodies that no one really cares to massage.  It is up to us to ease our own pain and get going the next day pain or not.  This really is a treat for tired and sore feet that is cheap and effective.  It can be done in the privacy of your own room as many times as you want and whenever you want. Dip your feet in this home-made spa treatment and just turn off the world or sip your favourite drink.  You will feel relaxed and refreshed.

A note of warning: Do not use it if you experience any kind of rash or if you any skin infection or open wounds.

Can You Use Body Lotion On Your Face?

  • Can You Use Body Lotion On Your Face?
  • Body Lotion On Face - Would It Cause Any Side Effects?
  • Why Don't We Use Body Lotions on Face?
  • Extra Dry Facial Skin - Would Body Lotions Help?

We are frequently receiving these kinda query from our readers and the answer is simply NO! We are now going to discuss why one shouldn't use their body lotion on face and what ill effects it would cause. So if you have any idea of using your body moisturizer to moisturize your facial skin, then kill it. It is not that every body lotion would react bad on your facial skin; some might work well in fluke too but why should risk? Read below and know more on this.

Difference Between Facial Skin and Body Skin

Cell Turnover Rate of Skin:
Skin dryness and less environmental exposure (When compared to facial skin) causes slow skin turnover rate in body skin. Due to this, the natural exfoliation process slows down in body skin and thus it stays rougher and scalier than your facial skin. On the other hand, due to the sebaceous glands and excess sun exposure, the natural exfoliation process takes place faster and more frequently in your face skin when compared to the body skin. This makes your facial skin naturally more sensitive than your body skin.

Skin Thickness:
Our facial skin is usually 0.20mm thick whereas the body skin is 0.60mm thick. From this, obviously we can say that our facial skin is more sensitive when compared to our body skin.

Is It Okay to Use Body Lotion on Facial Skin?

As already said, the answer is No. Because of the differences in skin nature and thickness, usage of body lotion on more thin and more delicate facial skin is not that advisable. Body skin is usually drier than the facial skin and thus body lotions are specially formulated with heavy moisturizing ingredients that would lead to clogging of pores on the facial skin.

Is Body Lotion on Face Okay In case of Extremely Dry Skin?

Even though your body lotion is light in texture and your skin is extra dry, you shouldn't use it on your facial skin as some of the ingredients present in it might be allergic to your face. Not at first, you may also face facial breakouts and such with regular body lotion usage on face.
Have you ever noticed something on your body lotion? Most of the body lotions are more scented and coloured when compared to the light facial lotions and moisturizers. Don't you think that those artificial fragrances and colours would affect your super delicate and sensitive facial skin?
So it is better to avoid body moisturizers on your face anytime. Whatever skin type yours may be and however gentle those body lotions may be, do NOT use it on your facial skin without consulting with your dermatologist (There is very less chance that any dermatologist would recommend a body moisturizer for face)

Side Effects of Using Body Moisturizers on Face

So, Summing up the all the above factors, here is the list of facial skin problems you might experience if you use your body moisturizer on your face, instantly or may be with regular usage.
  • Acne breakouts
  • Clogging of pores
  • Redness
  • Itchy skin
  • Excess oil secretion
  • Greasy skin
  • Other allergies

Facial Moisturizer On Body - Is that Okay?

This is completely alright and this wouldn't surely give you any side effect because of the gentleness of the facial lotions. Hence, in case you run out of your regular body lotion, you can pour some facial lotion on your palm and smooth it over you body skin to provide it required moisturization. You can do this without any fear however you may need to reapply the facial lotion in short intervals to prevent dryness on your body skin!

P.S: For some, your body lotions may perfectly suit as your facial moisturizer but before continuing this, consult with your dermatologist once to ensure that it wouldn't cause any side effects or skin allergies in future.

Hope you find this article helpful. Have you ever used your body lotion on face?

The Nature's Co Passion Fruit Pineapple Body Mist Review

Hi buddies! Previously I reviewed Lily of the Valley Lotion from TNC here and Today I am reviewing a body mist from The Nature's Co Foressence range called the Passion Fruit - Pineapple Body mist. I am not a regular user or a fan of body mists/perfumes but I still use few of them with mild floral or fruity scent. As this mist is a fruity one, as per the name pineapple mist, I loved it at first sight. I got this few days back and using it occasionally when I step out. Let us a my detailed review on it with its pros and cons.

My Views and Ratings

The Packaging
The body mist comes in a cute rectangular box shaped container with a top cap and a small inner lid. The container is transparent and hence it is easy to find how much is left inside. Because of the shape of the pack and the sturdiness of its cap, it becomes so travel friendly. What I felt is, the spraying might be more better and easier, it was little, only little tricky.  Nothing more I see bad in its packaging, overall it's cute and classy :D
Rating: 4.5/5

On my hand... Guess the size please!

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance
The body mist is so light in consistency and baby pink in colour which makes so pleasant to eyes. It has a kinda floral smell and also has pineapple flavour. I loved the fragrance very much, but some sensitive noses and pineapple haters may feel it little heavy. No con with it, because the fragrance gets milder within few minutes. This is my first using body mist, and I am totally fine and okay with it.
Rating: 4/5

How it Works On me
First of all, this being my first body mist I want to agree one thing frankly here. I had no clue about what a body mist is :P Please don't raise your eye brows, being a beauty blogger this may be a shame for me but still I agree I am learner, a beginner and moreover a school girl :P he he. I had an idea that it's some what like a perfume and surfed in net. After that I got to know that body mist is meant for spraying all over body for a refreshing feel or moisturization or anything like that while perfume is for some parts of the body. So, when compared to perfumes, body mists are milder and the staying power will be lesser too. Okay, lets come into the topic how this TNC pineapple body mist works on me.
I took bath, sprayed this mist all over my body and felt it bit heavy (The fragrance, not the texture. By the way the texture is so light). Soon after 5 minutes, the heaviness vanished and the fragrance was milder enough. The fragrance stays up to a decent time of 3 to 4 hours on my skin and I quite loved it. It doesn't cause any breakouts or side affects on my skin as it is made by very natural ingredient. Yippee it is alcohol free too! :D I am totally in love with this body mist and going to use this everyday for a refreshing feel.
Rating: 5/5

PROS
  1. Alcohol free!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
  2. Compactly and sturdily packed. Cute and Classy too!
  3. Travel friendly because of its shape and sturdy cap.
  4. Cooling sensation with every use.
  5. Pineapple lovers will long for it! It has a floral kinda fragrance too.
  6. Get absorbed quickly.
  7. The fragrance lasts for a decent time of 3-4 hours
  8. It's quite affordable when compared to the other body mists (they might even contain alcohol while this one doesn't. Loved this TNC body mist so much for this factor)
  9. Made of all natural ingredients and hill spring water. Hence, would suit all skin types including sensitive ones. This is totally side effect free.
  10. Contains natural essential oils and Vitamin E which are so good for your skin.
CONS
  1. Pineapple haters may feel this fragrance bit heavy. But it gets milder within seconds.
Nothing much! Love this body mist! Give a try for a wonderful refreshing experience.

My Recommendation: Go for it everyone, including sensitive skins! So refreshing.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Will I Repurchase?: Sure! I will. I loved its fruity + floral fragrance and the decent staying power.

Lotus Herbals Licorice White Skin Whitening Cleanser Review

Hello girls and guys!
I am here with a bathing cleanser review today. This is the one I am using for past one month noting it's benefits and disadvantages. And I want to mention a thing, it's my first used skin whitening body cleanser ever. It is a product of a famous skincare and cosmetic brand Lotus Herbals, the product name is "Lotus Herbals Licorice White Skin Whitening Cleanser. Before going into the review, let me give you some information about what is licorice and how it is used in skincare.
Licorice is the root of a herbal plant which is called "Mulethi" in northern India and "Adhimadhuram" in south. Licorice has anti inflammatory ingredients in it, thus it is used to treat many of the skin diseases like psoriasis, eczema etc. I heard licorice helps in reducing scars and improving skin texture naturally. This is the main reason why I purchased this cleanser and using it. It is made of herbal root extracts in a very natural way, thus it is not going to affect anyone's skin like other chemical soaps. Now let's move on to my review.

Lotus Herbals Licorice White Skin Whitening Cleanser

Price: Rs.70 for 100g (I got it for Rs.62 at Stylecraze)

Shelf Life: 3 years

What does the Cleanser Claims
A 100% ayurvedic natural remedy that effectively controls melanin, thus making the skin glow with fairness.
Regular use of LICORICEWHITE makes skin visibly whiter and effectively works to remove blemishes. It contains premium ingredients like Licorice (Mulathi) and Manjishtha in their purest form.

Ingredients in this Cleanser

The Packaging

Packed with a cute lotus sticker on it

You can observe the size of the cleanser and it is gel based

My View About Lotus Herbals Licorice White Skin Whitening Cleanser
My aim is not to whiten or lighten my skin tone, though I purchased this cleanser to remove some uneven tan and make my skin look brighter. The cleanser comes in a cute pink with cream colour mixed box which is transparent at the top, showing the cleanser a bit outside. I loved this packaging. Seeing the image of this cleanser in an online shopping site, I thought it would be a cream based cleanser. But when I received it, I came to know it is not. The cleanser is brown, transparent and gel based. It disappointed me at first as I thought that it is not going to provide any moisture to my skin and leave it dry, but the cleanser is very gentle, pure and has a lovely fragrance which doesn't dry out my skin at all. I can't say that it moisturizers my skin like other creamy soaps, but it doesn't dry out or strip off the excess moisture from my skin. Though a body lotion is needed to moisturize skin after using this cleanser in dry winters.
I loved the smell of this cleanser, but my sister said that it is just okay-okay range. I don't know about how it smells for you, but I am sure it is not going to hurt anyone's nose. The fragrance gives a fresh feel while bathing and after bath too. Oops I forgot to say! The main thing about this cleanser is, it is bar shaped but slightly curvy at the sides as you can see in the above images. This makes the cleanser looks really cute and easy to hold while bathing. The other good things about this cleanser are, it doesn't contain any chemicals, no side effects and it removed my tan really well. It started brightening my tanned skin just in a week. Even though the cleanser is not cream based, it lathers really well, smooth and creamy. I use a loofah pad to apply and cleanser and gently scrub my skin while bath, it really does lathers very well. I allow the lather to work on my skin for 2 minutes before taking a shower. But this cleanser doesn't give any sudden whitening effects, so the claim of whitening is false. If you are looking for a mild, gentle herbal tan removing cleanser, go for it. I recommend it to everyone who wants to remove their tan and get even skin tone. 70 Rs for a soap may be a bit costly for few people but it is worthy totally. A cleanser bar lasts for about a month with daily usage and it doesn't give any side effects on my skin. It lives up to its claims expect the whitening effect, it just made my skin brighter and tan free, just much and affordable for this price.

PROS
    • No chemicals, no side effects as it is made of all natural herbal ingredients.
    • Nice and lovely fragrance which can't be hated by anyone. Makes every bath fresh.
    • The packaging is cute and the cleanser is easy to hold while bathing due to it's curvy sides.
    • Removes tan up to an extent and even tones skin with regular use.
    • The cleanser doesn't dry out my skin at all.
    • Lathers much and it's very creamy, everyone will love it.
    • Cleanses well deeply without leaving any oiliness and residues.
    • Lasts for about a month with regular daily usage.

      CONS
        • The whitening claim is false. It just brightens the skin by removing tan. This can't be taken as a con for this price and good worth. At least it is chemical free so even children can use it without any fear.
        • Not too costly, but some people may feel this is a bit pricey for a cleanser.
        • Not available everywhere unlike the other cleansers, I purchased it through online only.

My Recommendation: Go for it! Worth a try. It does clears out skin and removes tan up to an extent. Dry skins, don't forget to nourish skin with a lotion after bathing as it doesn't have much moisturizing effect.

My Rating: 4.5/5 (-0.5 for availability and less moisturizing effect)

Will I repurchase?: Sure, this is going to be my everyday cleansing bar until I find a better one. It is simply and naturally awesome! :)
