REVIEW: Lush "Honey I Washed The Kids" Soap

I am a s*cker for handmade soaps and thus my visit and my first purchase from Lush was long overdue. My this lack of "Lush"ness was due to the fact initially Lush wasn't available in Pune and my quick and crisp trips to Delhi and Mumbai never really made it possible for me to visit their stores. But when Lush opened in Pune, not one but 2, I knew it was a sign from God that I "needed" to "Lush"ify my existence. And so one fine Saturday afternoon I stepped into the Lush store at Phoenix Market and literally got lost! :D I was at my wits-end about what I should buy and what I shouldn't! The SA finally came to my rescue and when I told her that I was a "Lush"-V*rgin, she very sweetly asked me my skin type and suggested I go for a soap and then try out other products :) Yay!

So, I picked up this soap called "Honey I Washed The Kid"! It was obviously it was named after that cute, funny movie "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" and I was sold! LOL! How hilarious does that sound?? :D

Appearance wise it looks like a Vanilla cake with a bees comb as the topping and it smells really sweet. Initially I wasn't too much of a fan of the fragrance, to me it smelled more like incense sticks but once I got used to it I fell in love with the smell as well :) The good part is after a bath you are left with a mild caramel-vanilla kind of a fragrance and lingers on for a good 4 hours :) It isn't really drying but neither is it moisturizing. So its somewhere in the middle.

Oh btw, it is an extremely popular soap from Lush. Just thought you might like to know :P

One major issue that I had with the soap was the top hard layer (that looked like the bees comb?). Well it is quite redundant and quite abrasive when applying the soap so one needs to cut it off before using the soap.
Most hand made soaps melt easily and result in a lot product wastage. This too melts but I have a trick that saves such soaps from wastage. I cut the soap into smaller pieces and use them :)

Ingredients
Ingredients List
Oooohhss And Aaaahhhss!!
1. It has a wonderful smell.
2. It is not drying.
3. Lush products are not tested on Animals :)
4. The soap is soft and hence cutting it into thinner slices is pretty easy!
5. I like the overall appearance of the soap a lot :)

Ouches!!
1. Its a tad bit on the expensive side!
2. The "bees comb" top layer of the soap is rough and abrasive.
3. Lush isn't available easily in all cities.
Price
It costs INR 504/- for 140 gms.

Repurchase?
I think I'd rather check out other Lush products that actually benefit me in some way :) It's way too expensive for a regular use soap for me :)
Would I Recommend?
If you do not mind buying such an expensive soap without any particular benefits then you could try it out. It does smell good and the fragrance lingers on for a pretty decent amount of time :)

Overall Rating:
8/10

HAUL: Faces. Lush and The Body Shop & A Pune Bloggers Meet Proposal

It has almost become a tradition that I go hauling every weekend and flaunt and show you guys my purchases. But another practice that threatens to become a tradition is that every weekend I almost but unfortunately not end up meeting any of the Pune bloggers. I have missed meeting Parul, Parita and even Zara at Phoenix Market City Mall even though we have all be shopping there on the same day at the same time! How unfortunate! So I was thinking and proposing if we could arrange for a PMBB meet? :P I mean Pune Makeup and Beauty Bloggers Meet? What say girls? It'll be fun.. Think about it and let me know through the comments section. Then we can all decide a day and venue according to everyone of our convenience and meet up, shop, gossip and talk makeup :) What say? Of course non-bloggers but beauty blog readers are welcome as well. I think this could turn out to be something awesome! Think about it ladies :)

Coming back to my haul, this time I did not shop at Bharat & Dorris but at Faces (as usual) and at TBS. Bharat & Dorris is slowly losing its charm in my head cause first they don't have anything new to offer, secondly I think they have a limited stock and I have checked out almost everything there, thirdly they don't have a trained SA at their store (big minus), the guy at the store is creepy (my impression), the product packaging is cheap and well cause in plain words the store is pretty gloomy :( Sorry B&D some of your stuff is really good like your lipsticks, cream liners, brushes and some of your shadows but a bit of effort in setting up store and a bit of showy glittery advertising wouldn't have hurt. You know the worst? They do not even accept card payment at the store!!! :(

So anyways, I steered clear of B&D and focussed mainly on Faces and TBS thanks to my best friend Prajakta and I also made my first Lush purchase yesterday!

The nail paints are puchases for Poohkie
Faces Moisture Rich Lipstick in Fiery Orange
TBS Extra Virgin Minerals Cream Compact Foundation
Lush Soap: Honey I Washed The Kids!

So tell me how you like my mini haul :) And Pune beauties do let me know about what you think of the proposed meet?

LUSH fallen victim to hackers

Handmade cosmetics company Lush have launched a message on their website today explaining that any orders taken between 14th October 2010 and today may have given up their card details to hackers. Lush stated on their website "24 hour security monitoring has shown us that we are still being targeted and there are continuing attempts to re-enter.
We refuse to put our customers at risk of another entry - so have decided to completely retire this version of our website.
For complete ease of mind, we would like all customers that placed ONLINE orders with us between 4th Oct 2010 and today, 20th Jan 2011, to contact their banks for advice as their card details may have been compromised."
So, if you're still waiting for some old Christmas presents to arrive and may have assumed that the problem would be because of postage backlogs, I'd recommend contacting your bank - just incase.
What a shame that hackers feel the need to target such a successful company. Please spread this message around to anyone you know who may have placed orders on their website since this date and in the meantime check their website to find out about other safe ways to buy their products until they get the situation under control.
Although I've never ordered on the website before, I must admit, this works out as bad news for me and good news for them because now if I want any Lush products, I'll have to go in store and be tempted by all the other pretty things on sale!

Kate Flinders Hurn, 20, from Liverpool, is a student who works part time in Primark. She says, "I was going to order from Lush.co.uk, thank god I didn't as I have had fraud against my card before and it was traumatic!"
