What To Wear: To Office When There Is No Dress Code...

After I have collated all your feedback, I will be starting some new sections on your recommendation... Let me start with Pranali's... She wants me to start with "What To Wear To Work" posts and well here is the first of the lot :)

My office has no dress code (Thank God!) but yeah that doesn't mean we go to office like we are on a vacation... Being casual and yet dressing up in a way that your work is taken seriously is very important. It is of utmost significance to strike a balance between the casualness of your attire and the formality of the work environment. Keeping all of this in mind, this is what I wore today...

Top: Promod
Jeans: Lee
Footwear: Catwalk

Makeup:
1. Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in Blackout
2. MAC Zoom Fast Lash Mascara
3. Colorbar Blush in Floral Fucsia
4. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in Bare

HairDo:
1. Flat-Ironed my hair to remove frizz and remove the obvious curl
2. Tied up my hair in a high pony-tail and a flat front
3. Wearing a thin white hairband just for some contrasting effect :)

 Accessories:
1. Pale Gold Star shaped Earrings: Vero Moda (Pieces)
2. I do not carry a handbag/purse cause my laptop bag holds everything for me :P

Hope you guys like the look :)

P.S. Yup the flats, the top and the earrings are what I bought from the sale too ;)

REVIEW & LOTD: COlorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick on Over The Top 1

You all know my obsession with Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks and the way I just keep buying them. One very major reason for my love for these lippies is that they are really long staying and hence wearing them to office leaves me free from the hassle of touching them up in the middle of the day! You know what I mean don't you :) Nothing personal but I have always been the one to scoff at girls who crowd the washrooms to touch up make-up or even change their make-up :P I know I know many of you do it... Nothing wrong with that ;) The problem lies with me not you :P LOL!

So anyways this "Over The Top" shade isn't really over the top if you know what I mean, rather it is a nice soothing "corally-pink" shade that looks beautiful and feminine! Nothing vampish about it! :D

Here are the comparison swatches, lip swatch and an LOTD with it :)

So do you think it's your color? :)

Makeup For Office: A quick look!

When you are a part of an inter-community marriage, important decisions like what to cook for dinner is never easy! *sarcasm*. Mine as you all know is one, my guy is a Punjabi and I am mixed bred Manipuri and Bengali. Food habits across these three states are as different as chalk and cheese and well the discussion over what to eat isn't as straight forward! But for our love for each other (ahem!), my food habits are turning Punjabi and well my guy is stuck somewhere between a Bengali and Manipuri! LOL! Why do I say so? Well for starters I prefer roti or parathas for dinner while he wants to have rice else he remains hungry all night! hahaha! Another instance would be last night, when he wanted to have fish (maachh bhaja bengali style) and I wanted to have "chhole"... hahahahaha. So what did we finally do? We cooked both! LOL :D

Why do I bring this all up on a Monday morning afternoon you ask? Well that's because when these important dinner decisions are taken at 10:00 pm at night, the dinner is ready by 11:00 pm and we eventually finish with our dinner and an episode of Dexter by 1:00 am and then I decide to wash my hair at 1:30 am and we are finally in bed by 2:15 am, the dawning Monday morning is a scramble to reach office on time. And if you know me well, I never leave home without make-up. All the more reason I write this post and show my quick make-up look that I do for such rush-rush mornings :)

So here goes...

Products Used:

LOTD & Tutorial: Golden Smokey Eyes

This is one of my favorite kind of smokey eyes as these look classy and is extremely easy to achieve :) Oh yes you got it right people... I am a sucker for simple and easy to do looks and here is a tutorial for one of them...
Golden Smokey Eyes Look
The products I have used to achieve this look are as follows:
Eyes
3. Oriflame Mono Eye Shadow in Midnight Black
4. Colorbar Waterproof Liquid Liner
5. MAC False Lashes #36
6. Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara
7. Coastal Scents Light Beige Shadow as highlighter
8. NYX Eye Shadow Base in Skintone
Cheeks
1. Maxfactor Creamy Blush in Soft Copper
2. Maybelline Blush in Apricot Flush
Face
Lips
Products used for the look
The tutorial...
1. First off, I primed my eyes with NYX's eye shadow base in Skintone.

2. Then, taking the Faces kajal, I applied it generously all over my eyelids and smudged it
with a sponge tipped brush. Do not worry about it looking dirty.

3. Now, taking some Faces Gold Sparkle Dust with a flat eye shadow brush I dabbed in all
    over my lids.
4. Then took some Oriflame's Black Eye shadow with my Faces blending brush I blended in
my outer "V" and the crease area.
5. Next, I applied my MAC false lashes using Duo Lash Adhesive (Note to self: do a tutorial
on this), which I removed later...
6. Then, I lined my eyes with Maybelline's Gel liner, applied Colorbar liquid liner on my top
lashline and coated my "lashes" with Maxfactor mascara.
7. Finally, used the highlighter on my brow bone for the ooomph effect :)
The finished look :)
Hope you liked this look of mine :)

Giveaway...

As promised I am here with my giveaway ladies and if you ask me as to why am I doing this giveaway then I could give you vague answers like "It was my birthday three days ago" or "My blog is a year old" or "I have crossed 100 followers mark" etc... But the truth is that I am doing this giveaway because I love you guys (seriously!) and I am extremely thankful to all of you for supporting my blog and helping me improve in makeup along the way :)
As I had told you guys earlier, I have rounded up a list of my favorite or go-to products that I would love for you to have. I have reviewed most of these products and those that I haven't reviewed as yet will be reviewed soon :) Do note that the giveaway mainly consists of my favorite products from my favorite brands that include Colorabr, Faces, Maybelline and Oriflame :)
L-R: Faces Kajal, Faces Eye-shadow brush, Faces Shadow Brush #07, Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in Peach Tango, Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipsticks in "Luscious Lilac" and "Chestnut", Faces Eye Sparkle Dust in "Gold", Colorbar Nail Lacquer in "Extrovert", Maybelline Express Finish Nail Polish in "Pearly Pastel", Oriflame Very Clickit Eye Liner Duo in Black and Brown, Oriflame Very Me Clickit Lip stain/gloss duo, Colorbar Blush in "Plum Brown"
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Here's a detailed list of products that are a part of the giveaway and yes the rules to participate in the giveaway will follow that :)
1. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in Peach Tango: It is no new news that I love
Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks and own a variety of shades in thsi range. They are
matte lipsticks but are still very moisturizing and not at all drying. They stay on for a
very long duration and well most of the shades in this range suit the Indian Skin tone
    to the tee...
I have reviewed the following Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks as of now:
2. Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Extrovert: Colorbar's Nail Lacquers are yet another of my
favorite. They stay on for long, give really good coverage to the nails and the range has
a huge variety of shades to choose from :)
I have reviewed/used the following Colorbar Nail Lacquers till now:

3. Colorbar Blush in Plum Brown: This is my HG blush and is so flattering to the
Indian skin tone that it is a must have blush for everyone. Yes it could be a bit too
dark for people with skintones below NC20 though!
It is a finely milled blush, stays for long and does not contain nay shimmer/glitter.
     I have reviewed it here:

4. Faces Cosmetics Kajal: This is like my most recent purchase and this is one kajal
purchase that I just do not regret. It has an intense color payoff, is buildable, smudges
very little and is waterproof. I have been personally using it since the past few days.
    I have reviewed it here:

5. Faces Cosmetics Sparkle Dust in Shade 02 Gold: This is like my most favorite
golden eye shadow. I had bought it to do my wedding make-up and it has become an
essential part of my make-up case especially when I get ready for some wedding
functions or festivals. It has the right amount of sparkle, blends easily, does not fade
away and stays for a long time.
     I have reviewed it here:

6. Faces Cosmetics Eye Shadow brushes: I have been using Faces shadow brushes
since a long time now and till date I have never had the opportunity to complain even
once. The bristles are soft, do not shed and do their work extremely well. Basically,
there are three favorite Faces eye-shadow brushes of mine but there were only two of
them available as of now :(
I haven't yet reviewd these brushes, but I will review them for sure in a couple of days :)

7. Maybelline Express Finish Nail Polish in Pearly Pastel
Ok, this is one product that I don't own but with the express finish and fasr drying
claim and a pretty candyfloss color how wrong can you actually get? :) The shade
Pearly Pastel is so pretty and so sheer that it would look beautiful on its own as well
as a top coat over a darker shade :) Maybe you could send in a review to
    isimplylovemakeup ;)

8. Maybelline Colorsensational  Moisture Extreme Lipsticks in Chestnut
The Colorsensastion Moisture extreme lippies from Maybelline don't really need any
introduction cause they are those rare lippies that are creamy, moisturizing, highly
pigmented and have a pretty decent staying power. These lippies are a staple in
everyone's vanities and are "go-to" lipsticks for many :) I haven't yet reviewed my
collection of moisture extreme lipsticks but I will surely do one soon :)

9. Oriflame Clickit Eye Liner Duo in Brown and Black: The moment I came across
this concept, I was hooked. It is a dual ended stick, with black eye liner at one end
and a brown one on the other. The highlight of the product is the applicator brush,
which is thin and sturdy and makes making precise lines a breeze. The liquids are
smudge proof but not waterproof and have very intense pigmentation. I have not
reviewed this product on my blog.

10. Oriflame Clickit Lip Gloss/Stain Duo:  Red stain and Raspberry gloss
This again is in the dual ended stick form with a red lip stain on one end and a pink
Raspberry gloss on the other :) It's a very convenient combo and I especially love the
red stain. It is an orange based red that smells and tastes yummy sweet. The stain
stays on for quite sometime and I do plan on reviewing it

EOTD & TUTORIAL: Yellow Brown Smoky Eyes Look

I don't know if it happens to you guys but it sure does to me. What? LOL... The time when I get used to a particular thing and I just cannot let go of it :) Well yes it happens to the best of us but I guess it happens to me a tad bit more than most of you can even imagine! Why does this happen to me I cannot fathom but then yes you will now say that I am blabbering away to glory :P ha ha! So before I get carried away a bit more, let me tell you guys that what I am talking about is the fact that I get stuck not only to particular products but also to specific EOTDs and LOTDs... Yes! I am a habitual EOTD repeater in real life! Ha! There I said it! :D
So anyways, today I am posting a tutorial on the summery smoky look that I am nowadays sporting with anything and everything :) It's a very pretty and versatile (you bet!) EOTD using golden yellow and brown and well it just makes my eyes look so bright and full of life :) So here goes...
But first here's a sneak peak at my EOTD :) Tell me guys how much you like it :)
Yellow Brown Smoky Eyes
STEPS
1. Primed lids with Faces Eye-shadow Base and then buffed with some loose
    powder/compact.
2. Taking a bit of yellow eye shadow from my Faces Brilliants Palette using a flat fluffy
eye shadow brush again from Faces, I applied the shadow on my eye lids in a
    "pat-pat" motion.

3. Next using my Faces Blending Brush number 106, I picked up some Colorbar eye
shadow called Spicy Brown, which is a warm brown shade and applied it on my
crease, blending the yellow and brown shadows in a to and fro motion from the inner
corner of the eye to the outer.

4. Taking a highlighter shade like MAC Nylon, I applied it on my brow bone in order to
    bring focus to my eyes.
5. Now, I lined my eyes with Maybelline's Gel Liner (waterline+upper lashline) and
finished off with some mascara. I have used Maxfactor's False Lash Effect Mascara
    here.
Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner
6. This look can generally be paired with either a nude lippy or a red lippy and
sometimes even a coral lippy :)
7. On my cheeks, I have used NYX cream blush in Golden on the cheekbone and
Colorbar powder blush in Plum Brown on the hollows of my cheeks.

REVIEW & LOTD: Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in Smoky Rose

I have always been told and well I have also always read everywhere that matte lipsticks are not for thin lips and I have always followed this rule until maybe recently. Why have I stopped following this rule? No! Not because my lips have become plump, they are still petite (yes i prefer petite to thin ;)), but because I discovered the wonderful world of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks and also a fool proof way to apply matte lippies on thin lips :) So much so that now Colorbar Velvet Matte is my favorite range of lipsticks. Well yes I am yet to try out MAC Matte lippies and so of course my fav can change anytime ;)
Another reason why I have started preferring matte lipsticks is because they are long stay lippies and the Colorbar ones really stay for very long on my lips :) They easily stay from 10 to 10 with two meals, two apples and numerous cups of coffee in between. They do start fading out but a stain or tint is still visible at the end of the day :) My newest purchase from this range is called Smoky Rose and I'll be reviewing it in this post.
The shade Smoky Rose can be described as a muted pink and is a light pink that would suit a lot of Indian Skin-tones. I am an NC40 and it suits me really well :)

LOTD
Oooohsss and Aaahhhss!
1. Its a lovely feminine shade and goes well with all outfits. The pink is not OTT!
2. Even though it is a matte lippy, it is quite moisturizing and I have never felt it drying on  my lips. It is actually quite creamy!
3. It's quite affordable.
4. Love the packaging... A lot of people don't but I really do!
5. Whenever I go to the Colorbar counter, I end up getting some offer or the other :)
6. It does have an odd odor but very subtle and is also tasteless.
7. Has a good coverage and is great for pigmented lips as well.
8. Have great staying power
Ouches!
1. As it is a matte lippy, women with chapped and severly dry lips may not like it.
2. Availability of Colorbar products is an issue.
Price
It costs INR 220/-
Repurchase?
If it get over then definitely.
Would I Recommend?
Oh yes! For sure! But those with chapped lips might not like to go for these matte lippies.
